under the Mango tree, Afternoon Meal of the
workers and soon.
Carlos Botong Francisco
(November 4, 1912-March 31, 1969 (age 56) )
-Known for Murals,religious theme, voluptuous
figure and genre patinting.
-One of the first Filipino modernist
- Franciscos art is a prime example of linear
painting where lines and contours appear like
cutouts.

Guillermo Estrella Tolentino
(July 24 1890- July 12, 1976 (aged 85) )
-Region: Malolos, Bulacan Captaincy General of

-Father of Philippine Arts and Honored as
National Artist of the Philippines for Sculpture
in 1973
-Style: Classicism

-Known for creating Bouyant Sculpture

Victorio C. Edades
( December 23, 1895- March 7, 1985)

-The Original Bad boy of the Philippine Arts
-named as National Artist in 1976
-Father of Modern Philippine Painting
-Unlike Amorosolos bright and sunny paintings,
Edades colors were dark and somber with the
theme focused on factory workers, laborers or
orther simple townspeople.
-Moved at Seattle and enrolled at the University
of Washington and took up architecture

Hernando Ruiz Ocampo
(April 28, 1911- December 28, 1978)
- A self taught painter
-His works provided an understanding and
awareness of the harsh social realities in the
country after the Second world war.
- He features shapes bounded with curved lines
painted in intense colors and know by his
Abstract paintings.
-National Artist for Visual arts (1991)

- Famous works include Ina ng Balon, Cavalry,
Slum Dwellers, Nude with candle and Flower,
Man and Carabao, Fifty three Q, Fiesta,
Palayok at Kalan and Angles kiss.
Cesar Legaspi (April 2, 1917- April 7, 1994)
- A pioneer Neo-Realist of the country
- was known for his singular achievement of
refining cubism in the Philippines
- Belonged to the so-called Thirteen Moderns
-Distinctive styles and daring themes and use of
the Geometric Fragmentation technique and
other methods of Art

-His works include Gadgets I and II, Diggers,
Idols of the Third Eye, Faade, Flora and Fauna,
Bayanihan and the Survivor.
Beauty of Art is in the process, in the moment
