Suggested modifications to work places to align them with the Birds topic:
- Tape the composite shape on a dry erase board and have students draw a bird using the
diamond as a body part. Have students label the other shapes in the bird.
Or
- Have students pretend that the prism they constructed is a part of a bird and have them act out
how a bird would use that body part. Let them write a description of the triangular prism body
part and how the bird uses it.
Shape Sorting and Graphing
- Demonstrate the sorting and graphing by sorting the shapes by shapes that are in birds and
shapes that are not.
