TWTLe : RESISTORS IN SERIES AND PARALLEL CONNECTIONS
outcomes: + C10 3,Cl04,1D2&1D9
Upon completion the experiment, students should be able to:
1. Read the resistor color code.
2. Construct resistors circults in series and parallel on the protoboard.
3. Measure the total resistance across a resistance that connected in series, parallel
and series- parallel circuit by using digital multimeter.
4, Demonstrate team working efficiently while doing practical work.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
‘Always aware, any machine that works on electricity is dangerous.
Understand the safety procedures specified by the lecturer.
The experiment should be done in an organized manner as this can minimize the risk
of accident occur.
4, Read and follow the experimental method and check with the lecturer if any problems
occur.
HINTS AND CAUTIONS:
1. The ammeter should always be connected in series with the circuit elements.
2. The voltmeter, or voltage probes, should always be connected parallel to the circuit
elements.
3. To protect the ammeter (or any voltage or current meter), use the large scale first and
then gradually move to a more sensitive scale.
4, Always monitor the current into the ammeter and do not allow the current to exceed
the ammeter scale.
5. In this lab, use only the power supply’s DC voltage outputs, not the ac voltage
outputs.
6. The power supply needs to be set to constant voltage mode. To do so, turn the DC
CURRENT ADJUST knob clockwise, and then adjust the DC VOLTAGE ADJUST knob to
obtain the desired output voltage.
Electrical Technology DET1013 |EXERCISE 1: RESISTORS IN SERIES CONNECTIONS:
1, Construct resistor circuit on the protoboard as in Figure 1.
2. Draw the connection diagram in Table 1 and label the AB terminal.
3. By using the multimeter, measure the total resistance across terminal AB.
4. Record the reading as Rr (measured value) in the Table 1.
5. Repeat step 1-4 for Figure 2.
