Dear RR,

Thanks for the below mail.

We have perused the queries raised and the attachments. In fact, the answers to the
queries are well defined in the attachments themselves.

I shall reproduce your queries one by one.

Is our industry (Logistics) covered under the Schedules?

Though no specific category has been included for Logistics, under the Minimum Wages Act,
IAL would come under the definition of Shop and Commercial Establishment, whereby
various minimum wages are categorised in various grades.

Whether minimum wages referring to basic salary or the gross salary, inclusive of travel
allowance, special allowance etc.?

On a perusal of the definition of wages, the travel allowance, special allowance etc. are
outside the purview of the same, and, hence, the minimum wages needs to be reckoned by
excluding these allowances.

How do we define skilled, semi-skilled, within our employment-grades?

IAL being a commercial establishment, the employment structure may vary from different
categories, and therefore, needs to rely on the definition given under the Act.

Skilled employees are capable of working efficiently, and take independent decisions, and
discharging their duties and responsibilities.

Similarly, semi-skilled and unskilled employees are also defined under the Act, as per the
attachments forwarded, and therefore, you may have to take a call on each employees in
different categories and zones, to fix their minimum wages.
