Voice Over:

The city of Laoag has long been distinguished for its cachet in facility provision, competence, welfare,
community service, involvement, and technological revolutions, all of which actively sync up to make
Laoag City a fancied abode to live, work, and play. Fifty years past its establishment as a city, and
through the highs and lows of life, Laoag City conquered the challenges of times and now delights in
its claim as the Gateway to the North. And even when under the gloom of life, Laoag will always shine
through the brightness of its wonderful culture and people. Welcome to a day of thanksgiving and
jubilation! Welcome to the Golden Anniversary of our dear Laoag City!

Please welcome our hosts for this morning, Mr. Ancher Cua and Miss Precious Bucad !
*********************************
Ancher: Good Morning Laoag City!

Precious: Naimbag a Bigat Kailian !

Ancher: Laoag City: dubbed as the precious gem of Ilocandia, is enduring in its beauty and rich
culture. It has a timeless quality as if it had existed forever. You know Precious, as we embark on our
new journey, it is vital to look back at our humble beginnings to understand our present and fathom
out the future.

Precious: Indeed It is worthy to note that from its modest beginnings, Laoag City has progressively
etched its name into what it is now: multi-awarded and a bustling growth center, and the Philippine's
Gateway in the North. Today, we remember its iconic story as a city.

Ancher: The Charter of the City of Laoag was passed by the 5th congress of the Republic of the
Philippines on its 4th session; the bill was originally filed by Congressman Antonio Raquiza and Hon.
Simeon M. Valdez as senior and junior authors of House Bill 9366. As finally passed by both houses
of congress approved by the President of the Philippines, the charter of the City of Laoag was
realized.
Precious: President Marcos, who was the senate president then was greatly responsible in the
passage of the said bill during the closing days of the regular session of the 5th Congress. It was not
easy however because the attempt to establishing a city posted uncertainties, and doubts to some
officials. In the long run, former mayor Hon. Eulalio Siazon and the members of the council waged a
campaign which turned out to be a master stroke. Thus, Laoag became a city in the year of our Lord,
1965

Ancher: Let not anyone therefore, rob our forbears fo their rightful place in our history especially all
those who made possible our beloved LAOAG become a city. The likes of Marcos, Raquiza, Valdez,
Siazon and the affirming members of the municipal council deserve no less

Ancher: Now, as we revel on this citys greatness, we gratefully look back and reckon on the tales of
victory impressively mastered through the years.

well as the people struggling with the same search for individual meaning and purpose that all of us
do.

and aspirations than use potent words and colourful visuals to immortalize them by coming up with a
