Woodleigh’s skate extravaganza

Woodleigh School turned into a skate
park for the day as all the pupils practised
ollies, flips and 180s with maximum air.
The School Council and the Friends of
Woodleigh organised the event which
lasted all day and involved over 80 chil-
dren.
Pupils also learned and practised a
series of tricks and moves, including 180s,
kick flips, tic tacs and glides.
George Ullyott, age 12, from Garton-
on-the-Wolds, said : “It was great to learn
new skills and it was a challenging experi-
ence.”
Victoria Hind, age 11, from Hutton
Cranswick said: “I liked it and I found it
fun especially the flips.”
The best skateboarders performed a
masterclass in the afternoon, finished by
Paul the instructor completing a spectacu-
lar aerial 360 shove it and kick flip over the
school’s parking barrier .

Year 2’s View of the Skateboarding.

BY EMILY BREESE, YEAR 2
We learnt how to skateboarded. We
needed to put on safety kit, like helmets,
knee and elbow pads, and padded gloves.
I managed to jump when the skate-
board was upside down.
First time Paul (the Instructor) had to
hold my hand so I could do it, then when I
could do it, it became easy peasy. I can now
do it on my own. I did it yesterday at play-
time and it was easy. It was brilliant fun
and I want to do it again.
