1. Check the torque on the

rotor centring bolt
Check that the bolt holding the rotor centring unit is as
tight as possible. Use a 2.5 mm Allen wrench and fasten
the bolt as tightly as possible (do this only on analysers
with a serial number below 831011030).

3. Cleaning the optical slit
Remove the photodiode plate to access the optical slit
hole.
Use a dry air syringe or spray to blow inside the whole
and clean any dust from the interior. See photographs 4
and 5.

4. Check the functioning of
the fans
Check that all the fans work correctly. Place your hand
behind each fan and check that it expels air.
The instrument has four fans:
Two at the rear of the instrument.
One at the bottom of the optical unit; the air is expelled
under the instrument.
One on the needle. To check this fan, remove the arm
casing and feel to check that air flows under the needle
unit. The fan should take in the air. If it expels it, remove
the fan and turn it so that it takes air in instead of
expelling it, as indicated by the arrows in photograph 6.
greasing the ceramic pump
For the ceramic pump to be in correct working condition
and not cause excessive noise, perform a maintenance
procedure every two years or every 20,000 million pump
operation steps, whichever comes first. This maintenance
consists of changing the seal and re-greasing the
transmission system.
The number of pump cycles can be checked with the service
programme on the Utilities/Read and load Adjustments
and Cycles menu. Select the Cycles tab and check the
step value of the Dispensing pump. See Screen 1.
To change the AC11527 Dispensing pump seal:
a) Remove the dispensing pump from the instrument.
b) Remove the fluidic chamber.
c) Remove the seal support.
d) Replace the seal.
e) Fit the seal support by tightening the 4 bolts gradually.
f) Refit the fluidic chamber on the pump.

Before performing the basic tests to check the analyser,
the following is necessary:

To re-grease the transmission system:
a) Remove the motor together with the transmission
system and the ceramic piston from the pump body.
b) Separate the transmission from the ceramic piston.
c) Remove the old grease from the transmission system
using absorbent paper.
d) With a syringe, inject the new grease inside the unit
using the AC13079 Refill ceramic pump spare.
Remove the old grease that comes out of the holes on
the unit.
e) Insert the transmission into the unit. Remove the excess
grease that comes out of the holes.
f) Fit the transmission unit with the ceramic piston in the
pump body.
g) Refit the ceramic pump on the instrument.
h) Reset the dispensing pump step value to zero with the
service programme. Select the Cycles tab on the
Utilities/Read and load Adjustments and Cycles menu,
select the Dispensing pump checkbox and load a zero
into the number of steps. Remember that to modify
the number of cycles, you must have started the service
programme as a technical service operator.
6. Performing the service
programme tests
Update the firmware and service version. Read the
attached Quick Guide document included on the CD-
ROM, which explains the changes made to the version.
Make the new adjustments as indicated in that
document.
Clean the exterior of the needle with 70 alcohol,
together with the L-plate in the needle adjustment hole.
Remove the needle and apply the plunger.
Check the racords of tightens of the ceramic pump
and the three-way valve and on the spiral pipe
connector.
Perform 15 cycles of prime with air, 15 with wash
solution and 15 with system liquid from the utilities
menu.
Check that there are no air bubbles in the tubes after
the loading cycles.
Check that the lamp-holder is not cracked or broken. If
you see that it has deteriorated, replace it. Check that
the lamp voltage is between 11.5 and 12 V on the lamp
terminals.
Clean the inside of the rotor cover hole with alcohol.
Remove the wash station and clean the inside supply
source with alcohol.
Adjust the manipulator arm, the rotor position and the
filter wheel.
Perform the photometry tests.
Perform the rotor temperature test.

WARNING
When it must change to a cpu board (PC11551,
Microprocessor Board), by failure of some
component of the board, not to lose the information of
the adjustment and number of cycles of each element,
proceed with the following way:
Switch on the analyser with the failed board. Save to
a file the adjustments values and number of cycles.
Use the service programme with the Utilities/Read and
load Adjustments and Cycles menu, push the button
read adjustments and automatically will request if
it is wanted to save in a file. Write a file name and
push accept button.
Change the fail board for a new one
Initialise the analyser and go to the previous menu of
service programme. Push the button Load
adjustment. The programme will request a file name.
Select the previous file name and accept. This way
the values of adjustments and the number of cycles
have been loaded.
