Greetings! The Department of Medicine Section of Adult Critical Care will be conducting its sixth
BASIC ASSESSMENT AND SUPPORT IN INTENSIVE CARE (BASIC) Course on August 9 11,
2017 at the Center for Advanced Surgical Simulation and Training Innovation (CASSTI) of The
Medical City. The course aims to help clinicians develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to
recognize and manage critically ill patients. BASIC is supported globally by The Chinese University of
Hong Kong Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. Topics for the BASIC course would
include hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, shock, neurologic emergencies, and
nutritional support, among others.

We would like to invite you and your colleagues to join the BASIC Course. This is open to all
physicians (general physicians, specialists and subspecialists, consultants, residents and fellows in
training). We will be accepting a total of fifty (50) participants for the course. Registration fee is Five
Thousand Pesos (Php 5,000). Registration for the BASIC course will be until July 21, 2017.
