BACKGROUND

The Communications Section was tasked with developing a Marketing Plan for the
departments Career Development Resource Center (CDRC).

The CDRC will be a centralized career resource center for DPSS employees to use for
accessing information, advancing professional development, and continuing education
in an all in one full access facility. The CDRC will provide a dedicated resource center at
the DPSS Training Academy where departmental staff can pursue their professional
development and continuing educational goals through the utilization of computer
equipment and software. This premiere resource center will serve as a model for
upcoming department-wide career resource program enhancements.
Staff will use leading edge technology, such as Video Teleconferencing (VTC), for
professional development, researching promotional opportunities, and conducting
mock interviews through the use of Interview Stream software. CDRC will be utilized to
conduct information sessions, exclusive specialized trainings, and meetings (e.g.,
Toastmasters, Lunch and Learn, University Cohort Information Sessions, etc.).

GOALS

Our marketing goal is to increase participation for our internal customers through the
proposed marketing efforts as follows:

Immediate Goals
Promote marketing campaign themes: Pathways to Success
Promote CDRC brand with new logo (See Appendix 1)
Promote CDRC with print and digital media (See Appendices 2 and 3)
Promote a true one stop center for delivery of workforce development and
related services including self-assessment, targeted instruction, and training, using
print/digital media
Promote computerized applications available for staff
Promote online learning to DPSS staff

Future & Ongoing Goals
Develop and implement an intranet webpage for CDRC.
Increase awareness of CDRC programs and the opportunities available in higher
institutions for staff in several programs.

STRATEGIES
We will use all our marketing portals for the launch of the CDRC, all available programs
and resources for training and development for our DPSS staff and the benefits to
departmental improvement.
The marketing team will maximize the launch of the CDRC through email, posters, flyers,
Electronic Bulletin Board slides, and special messages from our Department Head.
