Quick Start Guide for Flash Disk (Chipsbank Controller)

* For ALL user – DO NOT Format Flash Disk with FAT32 formatting (Windows XP
Default formatting) it will damaged Flash Disk and caused it to be unstable. Please use only
FAT (or FAT16) formatting or Format from your utilities drivers (please refer below)

Getting Started

Flash Disk is NOT formatted, so it is recommend to format before 1st time use. Please
refer to section - 1) Format - below under Utilities Operation in page 2.

For Windows ME user, please DO NOT install ManagerSetup_v2.0 for Flash Disk.
Please follow below steps to format –
1) Double click “My Computer”
2) Right-click over “Removable Disk” (your Flash Disk) and click “Format”
3) Select “Full Format” under Format Type and click “Start”
4) Once finished, Flash Disk is ready for us. * If needed, you can use “Scan Disk”
function to repair any data surface damage in Flash Disk.
5) Please check with your dealer for the availability of Utilities program.

Driver Installation

Plug and Play for Windows 2000 and XP, Apple Mac 9.0 and Linux Kernel 2.4.0 or
higher, no driver is needed. To use, just plug Flash Disk into the USB port.
* Please note for first time use, system will require 10-30 seconds to be ready.

Driver is needed for Windows 98SE, please find below installation steps –
1) Turn on computer and plug Flash Disk into the USB port
2) Windows will detect new hardware and inform you “a new USB storage device”
Please click the “Next” button
3) Then Windows will ask location of the driver. Please click “Browse” button and
locate the driver from your CD-Rom. Please click the “Next” button to continue
* Windows 98 user, please upgrade your OS to Windows 98SE.

Utilities Operation

Please run and install - ManagerSetup_v2.0

1) Format – Run Flash Disk Manager, click “Format” then choose “Normal Disk”
and click “Begin”

2) Boot Disk – This tool is for Experienced User only, please do not install this
feature unless necessary.
(1) Run Flash Disk Manager, click “Format” then choose “Boot Disk” and
select between “HDD Boot” or “ZIP Boot” or “ZIP Boot (63 sector)” then
click “Begin”
(2) Reboot computer and change BIOS Boot Device to “USB-ZIP”

3) Password Security –
(1) Run Flash Disk Manager, click “Format” then choose “Secure Disk” type
in your Password and Confirm Password and click “Begin”
(2) After successful setup, unplug Flash Disk. Password security will only be
activated next time.
(3) After system reboot, Flash Disk can be activated by –
i. From “My Computer”, locate and click into “Removable Disk”
(Flash Disk) Then click “LoginTool” and type in password then
click “OK”
ii. Run Flash Disk Manager, click “Login” then type in password and
click “OK”
* Note – for 2 Disk partition, Password feature only available to Disk 1.

4) Change Password –
(1) Change with “LoginTool” –
i. Plug in Flash Disk, from “My Computer”, locate and click
“Removable Disk” (Flash Disk)
ii. Click into “LoginTool” then click “ChangePwd”
iii. Type in original password in “Old Password” then type in your
new password in “New Password” and “Confirm Password” and
click “OK”
(2) Change with Flash Disk Manager –
i. Plug in Flash Disk and run Flash Disk Manger
ii. Click “Change Password”
iii. Type in original password in “Old Password” then type in your
new password in “New Password” and “Confirm Password” and
click “OK”

Unplugging Flash Disk

To avoid data loss or mechanical damage, do not power down your computer or unplug
Flash Disk during data transfer. Even when Flash Disk is at waiting mode, you still need
to follow instruction listed below. Please review each carefully as different operating
system requires different “disconnecting” procedures –

1) Windows 98SE : unplug only when LED is off


2) Windows 2000, ME, XP : double click “Eject Hardware” icon on system tray
and wait for message to remove Flash Disk.
3) Apple Mac : move the “Removable Disk” icon into “Recycle Bin”
4) Linux Kernel : remove Flash Disk after “unmount” command executed

IMPORTANT – Failure to follow above steps before unplugging Flash Disk may cause
damage to information stored and lead to stalling of your system.
