Trace Now
Trace Now:
Trace Now is a computer software which is used to trace the movement of piles
of a particular job across the production floor.
Using the PO number or ISO number following information about a job can be
traced
Type of material used for that job
Quality of the material
Name of the vendor who provided the material
Grammage of the material
Number of sheets used to complete the job
Time taken to complete the job
Name of the machine used to run the job
Name of the operator who worked on the job

If any kind of feedback comes from the client we can trace the production steps for that
particular order from start to its completion. So we can determine the root cause of the
problem and work for its solution.

Reasons for the desertion of Trace now:

The working of the trace now was moved to SAP due to the linkage problems of the
production order. Every other process was running on the SAP except the traceability
operation. So to make the SAP one complete tool for the industrial process, Trace Now
was closed and traceability process was shifted to SAP.

Steps taken to perform traceability operation in BUFC:

So reviving Trace Now in BUFC for traceability was not an option.
So I consulted with MR. Haroon of Flexible Packaging (FP) who are overseeing
the traceability operations in flexible packaging.
In FP jobs is being traced using SAP.
So he advised me to modify the SAP according to the BUFC requirement and use
it for the traceability.
There is storage area for the Work In Progress (WIP) in BUFC.
Empty areas are used to store WIP.
So it was decided to label the whole BUFC so the WIP in progress can be located
across the floor.
I created the following layout for the division.
 Name Plates are ordered for labelling.
Trial Run in Storage and Offset printing was decided.
Later trial run expended to whole BUFC.
To perform the trail following equipment are required and CP of these
equipments are being processed.

The following procedure is proposed to maintain traceability

Operations at storage area

Pile comes in

Add pile details into

Computer generate pile number and bar

code

Print a paper
containing details of
pile and paste it on
side of the pile

Operation at offset printing

storage area

Operator scan the

Operator print the pile

paste it on the
