Technology Plan
Instructional Technology Leadership
Coastal Carolina University

1
Introduction
A technology improvement plan is a plan that outlines the direction of the technology for

an organization. In this technology plan the organization is Pleasant Hill Elementary School in

Georgetown County School District. It is based on what devices are now being used in our school

district.

There are five principles discussed throughout the course of Instructional Technology

Leadership. Those five principles are technology practices, digital age learning culture, excellence

in professional practice, systematic improvement, and digital citizenship. Many of the concerns

from the principles that are in this technology plan is having an instructional leader who uses

different software programs and making the programs accessible for everyone to use in the

organization. An instructional should be fully aware of the ramifications involved with using the

device and how to troubleshoot the problems. An instructional leader must set realistic goals for

the organization. More leadership should come from the instructional leader in how to implement

software programs in the classroom. Digital citizenship should be practiced in the organization as

soon as possible.

Technology is forever changing and the only way educational leaders can stay ahead of

things is to make sure their followers know how to use the devices they currently have. The

technology plan will be an overview of what could possibly work best for our organization.

Conclusion
The long-term repercussions that will take place is that we will have more teachers

complaining about more training. As a teacher, I remember hearing my colleagues get frustrated

4
that they had to implement another piece of technology or curriculum in the classroom. The

demands are so high on teachers now with testing, and I have heard the concerns. Many teachers

will probably have the attitude of now another thing to do.

In contrast, there will be some teachers that will be excited about the implementations

and will not be able to wait to start using the technology and software provided. I think the

technology coach will have to make sure the information being presented is clear and concise.

Teachers will have to understand the content enough to be able to explain how to use it in their

classrooms. It has to be educational, fun, and exciting. Teachers will have to buy-into this new

digital-age culture.

The instructional coach plays a major role in making sure the technology tools are being

implemented correctly. Most training should take place during common planning time. In that

case, it would not be hours added onto the day. Teachers will be able to learn from one another

in teams, and administrators will notice what changes have happened in test scores.
