A SAMPLE LESSON PLAN IN PHILIPPINE LITERATURE

First Quarter (Part 1)


LEARNING COMPETENCY: Identify the geographic linguistic, and ethnic dimensions of
the Philippine literary history from pre-colonial to the
contemporary. (EN12Lit-Ia-21)

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, 75% of the students should be able to:
a. identify the origin of the song from what region it belongs
b. interpret the meaning of the song through a role playing

II. SUBJECT MATTER


A.Topic: Philippine Folk Song- Leron
B.Reference: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcqN99SQduS
C.Materials: picture, youtube, netbook
D.Strategies: Collaboartive Learning, Essay Writing

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness
4. Review

B. Motivation
The students will be group into four and will do the activity Your Song
Sounds Familiar. They will guess the title of other Filipino folk songs
without lyrics. (Pamulinawen, Sitsiritsit, Bahay Kubo etc..) The group who
can guess two titles of the song wins.

C. Presentation
1. Inform the class about the task to achieve before the end of the lesson.
2.The teacher will present the copy of the song to class and everybody sing it.

D. Lesson Proper
1. The teacher will ask what kind of song is Leron?
2. After getting their idea, the teacher will give and define what is a folksong,
its origin and the meaning of the song.

E. Developmental Activity
1. Group the class into four. Let them select a leader. The group will perform a
short role play depending on how they interpret the song.
2. The group can also use the dialect used in their community provided there
will be an interpreter but this is optional.
3. Show the rubrics before their presentation.
F. Synthesis
Ask the class about their realization regarding the activity through a guide
question. Let them say something about the ethnic dimension of the folksong.

IV. EVALUATION
Write a reaction/ reflection based on the folksongs presented. Choose only one
song.

V. ASSIGNMENT
With the same groupings, be able to present an adaptation of a text into other creative
form using multimedia.
