Question 1:
You have the scores from two assignments from an introductory mathematics course
and you are instructor of this course. Assignment 1 is given very early in the semester
and Assignment 2 is given towards the end of the semester. You want to know if your
class is improving. How would you evaluate this using visual and statistical tools you
learned in class? Based on these write a brief summary for a presentation to your
department where you need to report on the success of your class.

Question 2:
This is a data generated from continuously flipping a coin 50 times. How would you go
about dealing with this data? Then write a brief summary of your findings. Is the result
expected?

Answers:
1-) In the first assignment, we can understand that the average value of success level of
students is 72,01852. The Median of the values in assignment 1 is 75 and standard
deviation of the first assignment is 19,64882. In the second assignment, we can see that
the mean value of the students is 57,29091. The median value of the students success
level is 60 and standard deviation of the success level for assignment 2 is 29,79602;
bigger than the value of Assignment 1. From this point, we can conclude that the average
level of students level of success decreased from Assignment 1 to the Assignment 2.
Hence, we can understand from data that students level of success declined, from the
first to the second assignment. In the graph of first assignment, we can see that the
grades of students are concentrated on mostly the levels 60-70 and 90-100, according to
the graph 1. In the second graph, we can understand that most of the grades of students
are concentrated on the levels between 80-90 and 90-100, in Assignment 2. However, it
should be said that the general mean of the grade level of class declined from 72,29091
to 58,1667. We can also see that the standard deviation also increased also from
Assignment 1 to Assignment 2. In first assignment, there are 30 students that whose
grades are higher than the mean of grades, namely over 72, 01852. In the second
assignment, there are 29 students whose grades are higher than the mean level of
Assignment 2, namely 57,29091.

2-) Since the outcomes of coin flipping are non-numerical, it would be better to use pie
chart graph, in order to see the percentages of the head and tail outcomes. According to
the results, %54 of the 50 coin flipping resulted as head, the %46 percentage of 50 coin
flipping resulted as tail. In pie charts, we can conclude that majority of outcomes are
resulted as the outcome of head. The result is expected, when evaluating the data and
turning into the pie chart graph.
