Title: Experimental determination of lift and drag on an airfoil

Purpose: To be able to let the students measure the lift and drag of different airfoils in a subsonic wind
tunnel

Key equations:

Where:

Experimental Procedure:

1. Construct an airfoil made of foamboard. The airfoil can either be taken from the existing NACA

series, Clark, etc or an airfoil of your own nomenclature.

2. Measure the average speed of the wind tunnel.

3. Compute the reference airfoil area.

4. Test the airfoil to obtain:

Visual flow (to be attached in the experiment report)

5. Measure the lift and drag forces and make a graph of and at varying angles of attack.
Chosen Airfoil:

N 22
