9. '(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appo~ntedby [he Chancellor T h e Vice-

in consullation with the Minister from a panel of rhree persons
recommended by a commirlee consisting of three members nominated
by Ihe Court.
(2) (a) The Vice-Chancellor shall hold officc Tor a lerm of four
years or till he auains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, and shall,
subjecr to the provisions of this section, be eligible for re-appointment
Tor anolher term of four years or till hc attains he age of 65 years,
whichever is earlier.
(b) The Chancellor may,norwithstanding the expiration of the term
of[he office or the Vice-Chancellor or his altaining the agc of 65 years,
allow him to continue in office bll a successor assumes office, provided
that he shall not continue as such for any period exceeding six monrhs.
(3) The Vice-Chancellor shall be a whole-time officer or t h e
University and shaIl be paid from the University Fund such salary and
allowances as the ChanceIlor may decide in consultation with the Slate
Government.
(4) The Vice-Chancellor may resign his office by writing under his
hand addressed to Ihe Chancellor.

(10) If a vacancy occurs in [he office of h e Vice-Chancellor by
reason of death, resignation or expj. OF h e rerm of his office or olhenvise,
the same shall be filled up by the Chancellor in consullation with the
Minister.
(11) Any vacancy in the Council occurring by reason of death,
resignation or otherwise shall be hlled up by the Chancellor in consulta-
lion with the Minister and the Vice-Chancellor, in so far as such filling
up is noi inconsislent wilh he provisions of rhis section.
(12) If, by reason of the olher provisions or this Act, any difrjculiy
arises in giving effect LO the provisions of this sechon, ihe Council
shall refer such difficul~yto the State Governmenl which may make such
ordcr or do such thing, not inconsisrent with the provisions of this
section, as appears lo i t to be necessary or expedient for removing the
difficulty.
