Sight Seeing Places : Manali

Hadimba Temple : Hidimba Devi temple is built with a beautifully wrought four -
tiered pagoda roof, is built around a natural cave, which has holy footprints of the
goddess Hadimba Devi. Hidimba Devi was the wife of Bhima, one of the five
Pandava of the great Mahabharata, and later Hidimba Devi became the patron
goddess of the Kullu royal family.

Manu Temple : Near Hadimba temple Manalsu River flows down and culminates in
the main Beas river. After crossing the Manalsu river is the old village of Manali, Old
Manali Village houses the old temple of the sant Manu.

Monasteries : Manali hill station also has three Tibetan monasteries, that have
been built recently.

Arjun Gufa : Arjun Gufa is located five kms from Manali town near the village of
Prini , Great Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers, is believed to have performed his
penance in this cave.

Vashisht : Vashistha Cave is located three kms away from Manali at village of
Vashisht, Vashistha cave is renowned for hot sulphur springs. The Vashistha village
is also the site of some old temples, dedicated to the great Guru Vashisht, and to
Lord Rama. The Himachal Tourism sulphur baths are situated just beyond these
shrines.

Jagatsukh : The erstwhile capital of Kullu, Jagatsukh has temples dedicated to


Lord Shiva and Sandhya Gayatri.

Solang Valley : Solang Valley is situated near Solang Nallah , It is 14 Kms away
from Manali Town ,Many advantures activities are available at Solang Valley, like
Para Gliding , Skiing etc.

Nehru Kund : Its located six kms from Manali, on the way to Keylong, Nehru Kund
is a beautiful spring named after the late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.

Naggar ( 27 Kms) : Naggar islocated on the banks of Beas river, It was the
capital of Kullu state for over 1400 years. It was founded by Vishudh Pal and has a
16 th centuary castle, which has now converted in to a hotel , Naggar has three old
shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Tripura Sundari, and Krishna.

Manaikaran (90 Kms) : Manikaran is pilgrim centre of Hindus and Sikhs and has
Gurudwara and Temples of Lord Ramchandra and Shiva.

Rohtang Pass ( 51 Kms ) : Rohtang Pass is the getaway Lahul Spiti, Pangi and
Leh valley, Rohtang is sitauted at height of 14000 feet. The highway to Keylong/Leh
passes over this pass of about 1 km. Rohtang Pass opens for vehicular traffic from
May end to November.
Adventure sports in Manali

Skiing is a one of major adventure in Manali. Facilities for skiing are available at
Solang Nullah or Solang Valley (January-March) and Rohtang Pass (during
summer). The Mountaineering Institute at Solang Nullah is a good training institute.
Kayaking & White water rafting is possible on the Beas River in summers, Rafting
packages are available at Rafting Masti.

Best Season

The temperature at Manali can drop below freezing point when heavy woolens are
required. Summer temperatures are mild and light woolens/cottons are
recommended.
