tures. The factory of Royal Shade is located in Al Quoz, Dubai & we

maintenance for years of weather protection.

Today's architectural fabrics are composites of woven substrate fibre protected by an applied coating. New fibres, primarily nylon, polyester,
polyethylene and fiberglass, have been developed to fill the need for materials with high strength, longer life spans and a high modulus of
elasticity. The woven substrate provides the basic tensile strength of the material and its resistance to tear. The finish coating applied to the
substrate material seals the fabric against weather and dirt, provides resistance to ultraviolet light, functions as a medium for joining panels and, in
some cases, incorporates fire-resistant chemicals.

Fabric manufacturers report that architectural fabrics can be manufactured to vary in translucency from 1% to 80% and, in thermal resistance,
from a single pane of glass to that of a conventionally insulated structure, while still maintaining adequate day lighting. The roof can be a source
of light at night by directing artificial light on its highly reflective surface.

A variety of fabrics with varying degrees of transparency pave the way to new architectural dynamics. Modern fabrics combined with high-
performance materials can be utilized for their specific properties such as UV resistance, low maintenance, and non-combustibility. These
materials and fabrics are used to create shade within an aesthetically pleasing form while retaining excellent engineering properties.

The performance of today's architectural fabrics depends upon the weaving pattern, choice of substrate, and coating. Each type of composite has
unique properties and characteristics that suit it to different applications. The proper selection of membrane material is based on the proposed
structure's size, form, function, project economics, and desired longevity.

Structural fabrics in common architectural use today include:

Teflon Coated Fiberglass (PTFE)

Vinyl Coated Polyester (PVC)

High-density Polyethylene (HDPE) woven mesh - Shade cloth

PTFE is used world wide as the preferred material for large-scale
permanent structures or structures with specific construction code
compliance requirements. PTFE has excellent weather, temperature
and chemical resistance in addition to its durability and strength.
This material has a life span of over 25 years, varies in translucency
from 7% to 15% and reflects between 68%-75% of incident sun-
light. The quality of light transmitted is color balanced, diffused and
free of shadows and glare.
Before installation, PTFE has an irregular off white or slightly brown
color, which is caused during the manufacturing and fabrication
process. Once exposed to direct sunlight, the external surface of the
membrane bleaches to a milky white within a matter of days.
PTFE is the obvious option if long life and low maintenance are the
most important factors in selecting a fabric. This material requires
heat-sealing at the seams to joint fabric pattern sections. Warranties
for PTFE range from 10 to 15 years.
PVC is the most cost effective material membrane material and
therefore an ideal choice for both temporary and permanent tension
structures. The fabric came into prominent use in the 1960's
replacing nylon, which had been used almost exclusively until that
point. The material is soft, pliable and less expensive than PTFE. It is
available in a variety of types to meet a wide range of structural
requirements. It has a minimum of stretch and shrinkage in a wide
range of temperature and humidity conditions and the coating pro-
cess prevents mildew, stain and streaking.
PVC material has a life span of 5-10 years. It comes in a variety of
colors and textures. This material is sealed using radio frequency (RF)
equipment. Most PVC fabric producers have 5-10 year warrantees on
their material.

HDPE or Shadecloth is a mesh material manufactured and used in a

variety of ways. This material can be made for agricultural shading
or engineered and woven for structural purposes. Shadecloth comes
in a variety of styles, colours and shade factors.

HDPE membranes are not waterproof. This material is sewn using

industrial sewing machines. Typically, High Density Polyethylene
carries a warranty for up to 10 years.
Continuous advancements have been made to the tulip umbrella, which
can be set up in any way you see fit as a standalone design, artistically
in a group, or as part of an eye-catching brand presentation. Numerous
effects allow you to create new worlds for people to experience and
enjoy. The tulip umbrella can be illuminated in any color to create the
desired atmosphere and can also be custom-printed to enhance events
both public and private. For food and beauty promotions, the umbrella is
also available with fragrance emitters. Rainwater flows off between the
center pole and the Plexiglas and can be drained either into the ground
or, in the mobile version, above ground, depending on situation.

LEAF
A contemporary and elegant solution that allows you to meet several
requirements: shade, create private environments and public areas of
hotels, restaurants, resorts and swimming pools. Facilities patio and
garden offer the possibility to create different installation configurations
that can adapt to any pre-existing structures and blend easily into any
environment without being intrusive.
Thanks to their versatility and the ability to join different modules are
ideal for covering large areas. The different configuration solutions also
allow the tissue protection from the elements: Leaf in the model can also
remove the fabric during the winter. They are guaranteed for 5 years,
tested by TV Rheinland in accordance with the European standard EN
13651.

KUMO/SHAN
They are stylish and functional. Smart because they have a
unique design that allows them to blend into any architectural
context, be it classic or contemporary, functional because the
fabric protection from the elements is guaranteed by always
closing the box sealed. This translates into a greater duration of
the tissue over time and in a reduced need for maintenance.
Square-shaped or rounded, the cassette awnings are perfectly
integrated with buildings risaltandone aesthetics. It is totally
customizable thanks to a wide variety of colors and fabric
structure and the possibility of handling manual or motorized. In
single module has up to 7 m to 4.15 m is boss. They offer a 5
year warranty and are tested by TV Rheinland in accordance
with the European standard EN 13651.

KLIP
Klip are the classic awnings & the most popular. Ideal for homes
and businesses, tents are practical, compact, with a small
footprint, easy to install on the wall or ceiling. Shade LAB has
revisited taking care of the design and the performance of every
detail, to ensure that the tent alone earned the status of a piece of
furniture and not a mere accessory to shade.
Blinds outriggers are customizable in size, to match the structure
and the fabric and inclination; thanks to their modularity are able
to reach over 15 m in width up to a ledge of 4 m. They can be
equipped with valance, protective cover, engine and controls for
the opening and closing of the tent in case of harsh weather or
sun. They have a 5 year warranty and are tested by TV Rhein-
land according to European standard EN 13561.
AIRE
AIRE is the state-of-the-art of the drop awnings: extreme style,
modern design and cutting-edge technology.

The product line AIRE has been developed by the ShadeLAB

team to answer the growing needs of technologically innovative
products, easy to integrate with contemporary building style,
coming from the contract and architecture sectors.

AIRE is available in 6 different variants to easily fit both domestic

and commercial applications.

With or without box, with lateral Stainless steel cable guides or

with three other aluminum lateral guide systems. In the SLIDE
and ZIP versions the shading of the window is total so as to
guarantee protection from sun, UV rays, rain as well as privacy.

Easy and fast to install, it features an innovative auto-regulating

system of the guides that enables it to work perfectly without
leaving any chink.

The maximum size with acrylic fabric is 5 m width with a 2,7 m

projection, while with screen or micro perforated a height of 4,8
m can be reached. Like all the other ShadeLAB awnings, AIRE
has a 5 year guarantee.
ILIOS
ILIOS is the new ShadeLAB proposal in the drop awning sector.
Elegant and plain, technologically innovative, with excellent per-
formance and wide installation variants, it is the expression of the
ShadeLAB team passionate work.

ILIOS is available in 4 different versions to better suit private and

commercial applications: with or without box, with steel cable
guides or with tensioned arms. ShadeLAB vocation for research
and testing has enabled it to engineer a unique solution in the
market, particularly apt for WING and RAY versions: a rollaway
terminal bar that perfectly integrates inside the box, hence ena-
bling a hermetic closure.

ILIOS can be installed on wall and ceiling and offers a great ad-
vantage: maintenance and change of fabric/motor can be carried
out without uninstalling the awning. Thanks to the practical
SMART-BOX system, the front cover can be removed fast and
easily. There are no visible screws to maintain a plain and ele-
gant design.

The maximum size of the awning with acrylic fabric is 5 m width

with 3 m height, while with screen or micro perforated fabric it
can reach a 5 m height. Like all the other ShadeLAB awnings, ILI-
OS has a 5 year guarantee.

Every custom tension structure must go through engineering

certification. Not only will permitting authorities require certified
engineered drawings, but also the analysis is necessary to determine
optimum member sizes for the steel and fabric. Whether your
