for the overcurrent and the earth-fault elements.
- Three selectable time/current characteristics according to BS-142 and IEC 255-4
- Direct numerical readout of set values, actual measured values and memorized fault
parameters
- Sophisticated built-in self-supervision system for a continuous monitoring of internal
relay functions
- Outstanding accuracy and long-time stability of time/current curves due to software-
based design
- Wide-range self-regulated power supply unit for both a.c. and d.c. supply
- High immunity against all types of mechanical and electrical interference, verified by
type tect according to the latest relevant IEC standards

Overcurrent relay SPAJ 120 is a standard device for feeder overcurrent

Overcurrent unit
The overcurrent unit is composed of high-set element forming a short-circuit
protection and a low-set element forming a time-graded overcurrent protection.
A multiplexer monitors the energizing input signals and selects the highest phase
value, which is fed to the adjustable level detectors, by means of which the starting
levels 1> and 1>> are defined.
The switches S5, S6 and S7 define the starting level 1>> of the high-set element.
When the set level 1>> is exceeded, the output relay A operates in about 50 ms, and
the operation indicator T displays a figure 2.
When the set value 1> of the low-set element is exceeded, the operation indicator T
displays a figure 8. After the defined time-lag the low-set element operates the
output relay A and the indicator T displays a figure 1.
The low-set overcurrent unit can be given either a definite time mode of operation or
an inverse definite minimum time (I.D.M.T.) mode operation.
The four selectable modes of operation, i.e. definite time, normal inverse, very
inverse or extremely inverse, are selected by switches S1 and S2.
The operation of the low-set overcurrent element can be blocked by means of an
external control voltage applied to the control input 10-11. When the control input
activated, the time-counting is interrupted. If the control signal is removed while the
low-set element is still activated, the time counting continues from the point at which
it was interrupted.
The output relay A is self-reset after a fault clearance.
Pengujian Instantaneous Relay
