With the Treaty of Denver of 2018, Seattle found Itself isolated from the rest ofthe United Canadian and American States, but ‘ur civic leaders showed great courage and foresight by ‘establishing close ties with other nations, such as Califor nia, Japan. A web of mult-lane highways gridded for electric cars ensure travel across the metroplex in ess than three hours during non-peak hours. During rush hour, the highways are jammed, and trafic strictly stop-and-go. Trafic violence (go-gangs, random shootings) is low during the daylight hours. Business and residential streets are generally well- maintained except in the Barrens, where roads may be Impassible because of grid breaks or because the poor have tipped away materials for housing and money. The safety ofa residential treet depends.on the partofthecity Traveling the highways at night is not advisable, for the criminal element is out in full force.
