CiTRANS 660 High-capacity PTN Platform Hardware Description

Figure 1-5 The Integrated Equipment Layout (unit: mm)

The quantity of the CiTRANS 660 subracks that can be installed in cabinets vary
with the cabinet dimensions. To guarantee the normal air cooling and wiring, the
installation of each part should follow the principles below.

u Lay the subracks according to the layout diagrams for cabinets of different
dimensions.

u The minimum reserved spaces above and below the subrack should not be
occupied for the normal air cooling of the equipment.

u If the cabinet is not fully occupied, lay the subracks from the bottom up and
reserve the upper space for capacity expansion.

According to the principles above, quantities of subrack(s) that can be installed in

the cabinets of different heights are shown in Table 1-4.

CiTRANS 660 High-capacity PTN Platform Hardware Description

2.1 Code

The code of the CiTRANS 660 PDP is 3.000.058.

2.2 Function

The main functions of the CiTRANS 660 PDP are described as follows:

u Inducts two (active / standby) channels of -48 V power supply from the external
(such as the power cabinet), and then provides six branch power rails in the
active / standby mode for the three subracks inside the cabinet.

u Performs the lightning protection function, which can effectively withstand the
surge currents in the common mode 2 kV (1.2/50 us to 8/20 us combination wave)
and in the differential mode 1 kV (1.2/50 us to 8/20 us combination wave) on
the power line.

u Supports the alarm input and output function by collecting the alarm information
from the corresponding equipment inside the cabinet, providing audible and
visual alarm display of the alarm signals, and outputting the alarm signals to
higher-level equipment (such as the head of row cabinet).

u Supports the over- / under-voltage protection of the power supply.

u Supports the transient interruption protection.

2.3 Appearance

The lightning protection module (card number: 3.578.117) is connected to the

lightning protection module sockets (XS1, XS2) on the PDP via the standard DB-25
plug. It can effectively block the common-mode 2 kV (1.2/50 us - 8/20 us
combination wave) and differential-mode 1 kV (1.2/50 us - 8/20 us combination wave)
induction lightning strike, so as to guarantee the normal running of the equipment.

Figure 2-4 shows the appearance of the lightning protection module. The pins of the
DB-25 plug are described in Table 2-5.

is shown in Figure 3-2.

Figure 3-2 The Fan Unit

3.2.4 Intelligent Fan Characteristics

The fan unit of the CiTRANS 660 obtains the intelligent fan characteristics. After it is
configured to the intelligent fan mode, the rotation speed of the fan will change
according to the inner temperature of the equipment, so as to adjust the
temperature on a real time and guarantee that all cards are working under the
normal temperature.

u Fan intelligent control: Adjusts the fan rotation speed according to the subrack
temperature measured by the network management card. Users can set the
intelligent fan control parameters according to the actual condition. The fan will
rotate at a higher speed when the subrack temperature increases and a lower
speed when the subrack temperature decreases.

u Manual mode full speed / fast speed / slow speed / stop: When the intelligent
control mode become invalid, the fan will rotate at the speed configured
manually.

CiTRANS 660 High-capacity PTN Platform Hardware Description

4.15.1 Function

The functions supported by the XCUJ2 card are described as follows:

u Provides 20GE ports at the backplane and supports a GE signal backplane

transmission distance of more than 600 mm.

u Supports the nonblocking switching of the signals between 22 XAUI ports and
20 GE ports. The XCUJ2 card has a switching capacity of 320 G and supports
the MAC, VLAN, MPLS label switching.

u Processes the LSPALM bus output from the aggregate and tributary cards, and
performs the 1+1 unidirectional path protection of the system.

u Processes the SALM bus output from the aggregate and tributary cards, and
processes the APS signaling of multiple directions (up to 120 directions).

u Provides 1+1 unidirectional path protection, 1:1 bidirectional path protection

and shared protection ring functions; supports the ITU-T Rec. G.8131 and ITU-
T Rec. G.8132 protocols; and achieves the protection switching time of the path
and ring network 50 ms.

u Supports the SSM processing function. The system actually processes the
SSMs of up to 52 directions. Receives the 8 kHz line synchronization timing
provided by each aggregate / tributary line card.

u Outputs the card status indication signals to the connected cards and controls
the synchronization timing options of the cards.

u The equipment provides 2048 kHz / 2048 kbit/s (HDB3) level-3 synchronization
reference source for the exterior, and the input / output interface can be the
BITS synchronization reference source of 2048 kHz and 2048 kbit/s; supports
backup of the external input reference clock and the output clock.

u Supports three operating modes: locked mode, holdover mode, and free
running mode.

u Selects and traces a suitable synchronization reference source automatically,

and can trace the external synchronization reference source the clock
extracted from the line.

u Supports the temperature gathering and reporting at the temperature sensitive

area inside the card.

4-70 Version: C
4 Card

u Supports over- / under-voltage protection and alarm monitoring of the power

supply.

u The clock and cross-connect card selects the 1+1 hot standby protection mode
to achieve the automatic switchover between the active and standby cards and
the manual switchover via the EMS.

u Supports the remote upgrade of the FPGA and BMU software.
