Theeladrins,inconfusionwithoutCapra,almostgotowarforthefirsttimewhentheyencounterthearchons,strangecelestialbeings
obsessedwithlawsandpunishment.Whenaneladrinisarrestedforsomethingshedidnotrealizewasacrime,onlytheintervention
oftheguardinalspreventsviolentretaliation.

ItisnotsomuchlaterthattheeladrinsfirstencounterfiendsfromtheAbyss,andunitewiththeothercelestialracesinagreatcrusade
againstallfiends.ThisgoesverybadlyforthecelestialsasthefiendshalttheirBloodWartouniteagainsttheUpperPlanes,laying
wastetomuchofArboreaandotherupperplanes.Itissomecenturiesbeforetheplanerecovers.

Thisperiodisalsowhenthefiendsfirstbegintappingmortalsoulstoreplenishtheirnumbers.Afactionofarchonscallingthemselves
theWatchersrespondsbygoingtotheMaterialPlanetoforciblyindoctrinatemortalstolawandgood.Theeladrins,remembering
Capra'sTenets,respondbyworkinginsecrettoprotectthemortalsandtheirfreedom.Eventuallytheeladrinsprevailandthe
WatchersarebanishedfromMountCelestiaforever.

TheClashoftheTitans

Perhapsbuoyedbythepowerofeladrinstories,thefirstgodsappear.Awareruptsbetweenthegodsandthegiantswhoruledthe
planeuptonow.Theconflictissoheatedthattheplaneistornapart,thefierylayerofMuspelheimjoiningYsgardandthelayerof
thePrimalGardencompletelydevastated,becomingnothingbutdust.Theoriginsoftheeladrinsareforeverobscuredbeneaththe
sandsofthelayernowcalledPelion.Thosegiantsdevotedtochaoticgoodareshelteredbytheeladrins,andemergetobecomethe
titansstillnativetotheplane.OthergiantsaredriventoMuspelheimandJotunheim,imprisonedinCarceri,orcutintopiecesto
createworldsontheMaterialPlane.

Manyeladrinstakeonlesselementalforms,becomingsuperficiallysimilartotheelveswhomigratedtoArboreafromYsgardbefore
thewar.

TheReignofStarglow

ThetulaniGillianStarglowiscrownedQueenoftheEladrins,unitingthemforthefirsttimesincetheTimeofMysteries.Theauraof
perfectbeautyandlovethatsurroundshermakeheranirresistablechoice,andinspiresthecreationoftheCourtofStarsusingthe
mostpowerfulofeladrinmagics.Ultimatelythepressurebecomestoomuchforherandaftersomecenturiesshestepsdown,
disappearingasCapradidtopartsunknown.Everafter,theeladrinmonarchisknownastheQueenofStarsinherhonor.

SometimeaftertheabdicationofGillianStarglow,thetulaniShailianaiscrownedQueenofStars.Sheruleswiselyandwellformany
turnsandseasonsuntilsheiscapturedbyagentsofLevistus,abaatezuprince.Athousandeladrinsvolunteertogivetheiressencesfor
herransom,butwhentheQueenisreturnedsheisirrevocablyinsane.Afterafewyearsofherincreasinglydisastrousdecisionsand
horrificmoodswingssheiskilledbyherrighthandghaeleknight,whothenkillshimself.

ThenextqueenisNaizewen,whoiseverythingthatShailianawasnot.determinedandforthright,sternandsincere.Itseems
impossiblethatsuchaboldandwillfuleladrincouldbreakevenbeneaththetortureofthebaatezu.

TheHarrowingoftheAbyss

NaizewenprovesherdeterminationbydeclaringwarontherulersoftheAbyss,horrificshapersofchaoscalledqlippoth,invengence
againsttherazingofArboreaaftertheillfatedcelestialcrusade.Althoughtheguardinalsandsomeoftheoldereladrinscaution
againstthis,theyoungerghaelerallyeagerlytoNaizewen'scause.MillionsofeladrinwarriorsmarchonthePlainofInfinitePortals,
whiletheQueenusesthewartojustifyincreasingrestrictionsontheactivitiesofeladrinsathome.

Thewarlastsalongtime,withstaggeringlossesonbothsides,butthistimethebaatezuandyugolothsdonotintervene.Theturning
pointofthewaristhesiegeofthefactorycityofAmalrehtanwhenitswallsarebroken,thetanar'rislavesoftheqlippothfleeto
deeperlayers,inspiringtanar'riacrossthePlainofInfinitePortalstoriseupagainsttheirmasters.Withouttheirminions,theqlippoth
areeasypreyfortheeladrinarmies,andultimatelytheeladrinsarevictorious.Theshatteredremainsoftheoncemightyraceregroups
inanobscurelayer,undertheleadershipoftheirLadyShiggarreb.

TheeladrinsagreethatTheTimeofShameandtheHarrowingoftheAbyssarebestforgotten,andtheydotheirbesttohiderecordsof
theevents.Withinafewcenturies,onlytheoldesteladrinsandqlippothrememberwhathappened.Asfarasmostknow,Morwelhas
alwaysbeenQueenofStars.

ThebaatezuexpectthefracturedAbysstobeaneasyconquest,butthetanar'riproveanunexpectedlystrongforceevenwithouttheir
formermasters.Theyugolothsalsointervenetopreventthebaatezufrommakingthebestuseofthisopportunity.

AfterbeingcaughtattemptingtodotoBensozia,theDarkLadyofNessus,whathedidtoNaizewen,Levistusisimprisonedwithinthe
iceofhislayer,histhronegiventoarivalnoblenamedGeryon.

twosomes,threesomes,andmoresomes.ItisnotlongbeforeMorwelherselfiscourted.Foratime,sheindulgesthefanciesofthefirre

JiosefissoonforgottenwhenMorwelisoverwhelmedbythebythecourageandwisdomoftheghaeleVaeros.Althoughapowerful
warriorandaveteranoftheHarrowingoftheAbyss,Vaerosisalsoatirelessadvocateforpeace,havingnowswornagainsttheuseof
hisswordexceptinthedefenseofinnocents.

ThelovebetweenVaerosandMorwelbecomesthestuffofpoetryandsong,aninspirationforthetiredeladrinsaftertheirlongperiod
ofsuffering.Eladrinstattooimagesanddescriptionsofthecoupleontheirfleshandcreateweavingsandsculpturesofthetwoin
everyeroticpositiontheycanthinkof.TheCourtofStarshadnotbeenbrightersincethereignofGillianStarglow,andithadnever
beenhappier.

ThistimeofjoyendswhenVaeroshearsofagroupofeladrinprisonersofwarstillheldcaptiveintheAbyss,inthefoundrycityof
Vorath,nowheldbythetanar'rilordCabiri.Heunsheatheshisswordandgoesafterthemwithasmall,handpickedsquad.The
prisonersarefreed,butatthecostofVaeros'life.

ThedeathofVaerosstrikesattheheartoftheeladrinpeople.TheeternaltwilightoftheCourtofStarsdarkenstonight,andthe
eladrinsretreatintotheirhiddencavesandglens.Littleisheardofthemforcenturies,althoughitiscertaintheystillacttoservethe
causeoffreedomandbeautyindisguise.

Morwel,unabletodealwithhergrief,castshermemoriesofVaerosintoPelion,theretobeswallowedupbythesands.Shestill
sorrows,butcannotrememberwhy.

ItisduringthistimethatthelandsofDelavarandDarklovebreakoffrelationswiththeCourtofStars.Delavar,underthecareofthe
tulaniSalafin,slidesallthewaytotheAbyss,Morweltoowrappedupinhergrieftonoticeuntilitwastoolate.OnlySalafin's
daughter,RhiinaSurkai,isrescuedduetotheeffortsofthegirl'sfather.

TheLordofDarklove,meanwhile,becomesenrapturedbyhisownobsessions,creatinganArboreanrealmthatcelebratesthepassions
inherentinthemacabre.Whilehehasneverlostsightofthegood,hislandsarenolongerrecognizableasaneladrinholding.His
fiendandcolleagueMyharialBlazingstarbecomes,duringthistime,sodesperateforjoythathefoundsasectdedicatedtothe
spreadingofjoythroughouttheplanes.TheseJoybloods,astheycometobecalled,helpinspiresomeoftherenewaltocome.

TheTimeofNewSpring

Muchlater,atulaniweavernamedFaerinaalhearsthetragicstoryofVaerosandMorwel.Hebecomesdeterminedtocreateaworkthat
willrestorejoytoMorwel'sheart.Hepracticesuntilhecanweavethreadsfromsunlightandlaughter,andcreatetapestriesthatmake
stonesweepwithhappinessandmountainsshiverinecstasy.HejourneystoMorwel'ssilentcourtandgainsanaudiencewiththe
QueenofStarsherself.Carefully,heweavesfromhereternaltearsathreadsofineandlightthatnonecouldlookatitbutbedelighted.
Morwelwasunmoved.Next,Faerinaalturnsthesinglethreadintoatapestry,showingapictureofQueeninallherbeauty.Morwel
looksatthepictureandsobs.NowFaerinaalweavesintothepicturethreadsofsympathyandunderstanding,ofhealingandhope.
Morwelclapspolitelyandaskshimtoleave.

Frustratedbutstillcommittedtohisquest,Faerinaalwanderstheplanes,studyingunderthegreatestweaversintheGreatRing.He
studiesunderthespidersofGrandfatherTreewhoservedLolthbeforeherbanishment,hestudiesundertheMorae,Shekinester,and
theNorns.HelearnstoweavethethreadsofDestinyitself.

FaerinaalreturnstotheCourtofStarsandshowstheQueenhisnewskills.HeshowsherhowthethreadsofFatemayturndarkand
gloomy,butalwaystherearenewconnections,newpossibilities.Heshowsherhowthoughtwospiritsmayjoininperfectunion,new
unionsmayalsoappear,asstrongasthefirst.

Morwelnodsincomprehension,buthertearscontinuetoflow.

Atlast,Faerinaalthrowsdownhistoolsandsimplyembraceshisqueen.

Forthefirsttimeinmanycycles,Morwelsmiles.Andshehugshimback.

ThusbeginstheromanceofMorwelandFaerinaal,andanewtimeofhappinessbloomsamongtheeladrins.Faerinaalprovesaskilled
andwisediplomataswellasanexcellentwarriorandcraftsman,andtheeladrinsexperienceatimeofplenty.

Meanwhile,inPelion,thememoriescastawaybyMorwelbegintochangeandcoalesce.Fromthelostthoughtsofperfectloveanew
beingforms,abralanieladrinwhocallsherselfGwynharwyf.

Gwynharwyfwandersthewasteslikeotherbralani,findingsimplepleasureinthewindandsand.Soon,though,shefeelspulledby
urgesshecanneitherexplainnorunderstand,andsheleavesArboreatofightevilintheAbyss,destroyingmanytanarricitiesand
razingtheruinsoftheancient,andnearforgotten,qlippoth.Foratimesheisassuccessfulasanyloneeladrinhaseverbeeninthe
planeofultimateevilchaos.

Thatis,untilsheiscapturedbyalordnamedCabiri,nowrulerofalayeroftheAbyssknownastheElementalForge.AndCabiri
makesthemistakeofgloatingoverhisprize.

WordoftheimprisonedeladrinheroreachestheCourtofStars,anddespiteMorwelsimploring,Faerinaalunsheatheshisswordand,
withasmall,handpickedbandofwarriors,hegoesafterher.

ThesmallbandofeladrinwarriorsshattersthewallsofCabirisgloomystronghold,surprisingandslayingthedemonsand
demonicallyinfusedelementalswhoguardit.TheeladrinsmaketheirwaythroughCabirishorde,killingeveryfiendishcreaturewho
opposesthem.AfteratensefightwithCabirihimself,theydissipatehisbody(butnottheamuletthatcontainshisessence).And
Gwynharwyfisfreed.

Gwynharwyf,whohasneverfeltanyinterestinanythingbutslaughteringfiends,feelsastrangestirringwithinherwhenshesees
Faerinaal,asifheisakindredspiritinsomedeepsense.Andsheisalsostirredbyhiskindness,somethingtheroughbralanihave
littletimefor.Faerinaal,forhispart,feelsgreatadmirationforthewarrior,thoughshehaschosenalifeverydifferentfromhisown.

TheeladrinsmaketheirescapefromtheAbyssandreturntotheCourtofStars.FaerinaalintroducestheliberatedcaptivetotheQueen
ofStars,andthisiswhenMorwellooksherinhereyesandrecognizesherlostloveVaeros,oratleastVaerosstoryreincarnateina
newform.

AndGwynharwyfrecognizesMorwelasbothhercreatorandherdestinedlove.

Ofcourse,thereisnothingforitbutthatGwynharwyfjoinFaerinaalasMorwelssecondconsort.Andthoughshecanneverrestrain
herselffromleavingtheCourtoftentofightandmoreandmoreoftenleadothersintocombatagainstevil,againsttheAbyssand
Baatoralike,stillshealwaysreturnstothearmsofherloves.
