Oglethorpes Jacob Arnett

earns All-America honor
Sophomore Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe
mens golf team was named to the Ping All-
America Honorable Mention list June 21 by the
Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
This is the first All-America honor of his
career, and the 28th time an Oglethorpe mens
golfer has earned GCAA All-America honors.
Other honors Arnett received included a
Ping All-South Region honoree, an All-Southern
Athletic Association First Team selection and
he was a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus
National Player of the Year Award. He earned
his first career individual medal at the Jekyll
Island Collegiate Invitational in March, and
was the highest finisher among his Oglethorpe
teammates at the NCAA Division III Mens Golf
Championship in May, finishing eighth among
players.
He posted a 9-over-par 153 for the
tournament after carding a 4-over 76 in the first
round and a 5-over 77 in the second round.
He also finished ninth at the Gordin Classic in
September and finished in the top 20 in all but
two tournaments he played in.
Jacob played outstanding golf throughout
the season, including putting up the best
tournament-long individual performance we
had all year with his victory at Jekyll Island,
Oglethorpe Director of Golf Jim Owen said.
Hes still only a sophomore, so I look forward to
seeing what he can do as he improves over the
next two seasons.
