Five Facts of Literature.
1. According to Dev (2016), a French writer named Michel Thaler wrote a 233-page novel,
Le Train de Nulle Part without a single verb.
2. In Philippine literature, Mi Ultimo Adios by Dr Jose Rizal is the most translated poem in
the country. It was translated from Spanish to 38 more different languages (Salvador,
2012)
3. According to Jones (2015), Ernest Hemingway was dared to write the shortest novel
possible over a ten-dollar bet during his lunch with other writers. It has six word-story
that goes like this: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn"
4. Marcel Prousts A la recherche du temps perdu which translates to Remembers of
Things Past is the longest novel in the world that contains 9,609,000 characters (Dev,
2016).
5. Ancient Filipinos had started to acknowledged literature through fables and legends
even before the Spaniards influenced the Philippines. The countrys pre-colonial cultural
traditions and the socio-political histories of its colonial and contemporary traditions is
the accent of the Philippine Literatures theme. Philippine literature is written in
Spanish, English, Tagalog, and/or other native Philippine Languages (Mabilangan, 2012).
Don Enrique Zbel de Ayala saved and revived the Spanish language in the country
through the Premio Zbel award, the oldest literary award in the Philippines to honor
the best Filipino writing in Spanish (Business World Online 2013).
