The Brockville Operatic Society will be producing Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka

in February 2018.

Auditions will take place at Thousand Islands Secondary School on the


following dates:

Sunday, June 4th from 12:00pm-5:00pm


Monday, June 5th from 5:30pm-9:30pm
Wednesday, June 7th from 5:30pm-9:30pm
(Rehearsals will commence in October, but we would like to cast the show prior to students' summer
vacation)

'Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka' provides many exciting roles for males and females of ALL AGES. You
cannot find the coveted golden ticket without buying a Wonka bar, and you cannot earn a coveted
golden role without trying out for this production! We hope to see you there.
ROALD DAHL'S WILLY WONKA
CHARCTER DESCRIPTIONS:
Willy Wonka- Adult -The mysterious title character. He is charming, enigmatic, charismatic, and slightly sinister.
A chocolatier who guides children and their parents on a tour of his factory. He is looking for someone new to
take over his candy empire.

Charlie Bucket- Youth (Age 10-15) Our story's shy, earnest protagonist. From a modest home life, he is
humble and noncompetitive while maintaining a sense of wonder about the world. One of the Golden Ticket
winners whose honesty and general good nature win Wonka over.

Candy Man- Adult -A local candy vendor. He leads the children in praising the joys of candy.

Phineous Trout- Adult- A reporter covering the Golden Ticket story.

Mrs. Bucket- Adult (Age 30-55) Charlie Bucket's nurturing mother. She is always trying to maintain an energetic
positivity.

Mr. Bucket- Adult (Age 30-55) Charlie Bucket's nurturing father. He is always trying to maintain an energetic
positivity.

Grandpa Joe- Adult (Age 55+) A caring, patient, and kindhearted man. Loving Grandfather to Charlie Bucket.
He accompanies Charlie to Willy Wonka's factory and it gives him a new burst of youthful vigor.

Augustus Gloop- Youth (Age 10-16) A gluttonous German boy. Cheerful and jolly, he defines himself by his
ability to eat mass quantities of food. One of the Golden Ticket winners whose constant overeating is enabled
and encouraged by Mrs. Gloop.

Mrs. Gloop- Adult (Age 30-60) A plump, jolly German woman with a bustling personality. Augustus Gloop's
overindulgent mother.

Veruca Salt- Youth (Age 10-16) A wealthy, spoiled Brit. She is accustomed to having her father indulge her
every whim and desire. One of the Golden Ticket winners, she is subjected to the squirrels' nut chute.

Mr. Salt- Adult (Age 30-60) A wealthy British upperclassman who regularly flaunts his wealth and privilege.
Father to Veruca Salt who shamelessly spoils his daughter.

Mike Teavee- Youth (Age 10-16) An obnoxious, hyperactive child addicted to television, video games, and the
internet. One of the Golden Ticket winners and Ms. Teavee's son.

Ms. Teavee- Adult (Age 30-60) An old-fashioned housewife. She is Mike Teavee's permissive and clueless
mother.

Violet Beauregarde- Youth (Age 10-16) A brassy girl with a competitive streak. Violet seizes every opportunity
to show off. She turns into a giant blueberry.

Mrs. Beauregarde- Adult (Age 30-60) Violet's enthusiastic "helicopter parent" who focuses all her attention on
her daughter. She indulges Violet's worst competitive impulses.

Grandpa George- Adult (Age 55+) Charlies three grandparents are mainly non-singing character roles. Cast
performers that are innately interesting, who have good comic timing and are solid actors.

James, Matilda, Sophie, Danny, Alfie, Billie- Youth (Age 8-16) Featured youth roles, Oompa-Loompas;
Adults Ensemble- Cooks, Townsfolk.
