Social Skills Assessment and Intervention Assignment
Reflection
Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment was to use one of the case studies provided, to interpret and
analyze direct observation data and discrepancy analysis along with the rating scale findings for
the case study, to identify target social skills. Based on the findings, I described an intervention
plan for facilitating improved social performance for the case study. My intervention plan
included explicit instructional methods, social skill prompting and coaching methods, social
provide and evaluation plan for the intervention. Bobby Gibson was the case study used for this
assignment.
First, I thoroughly read through Bobby Gibsons case study. I began by describing who Bobby
was, what he was struggling with, and then what I identified as points I wanted to address in
this assignment. Secondly, I came up with an intervention plan that I believed would benefit
Bobby. I gave the time line eight weeks to begin with, with a daily check in process for
his progress, but also provide an opportunity for staff to monitor and adjust his plan as needed.

What you learned from this assignment and its contribution to your development as a special
educator.
My take away from this assignment came from the feedback provided. Not realizing that

Some questions to keep in mind for future, directly from feedback are, How will you
determine need to make changes to the intervention? How will you determine success? What
are the next steps? How will teacher check fidelity of the data? What will the data look like?
Will the student be involved in data collection? How is this generalized across subjects?
