Bamboo caracteristics

The bamboos are a subfamily (Bambusoideae) of flowering perennial

evergreen plants in the grass family Poaceae.

Bamboo plantations are ready to be harvested in 5 years

Bamboo has a higher specific compressive strength than wood, brick, or

concrete and a specific tensile strength that rivals steel. One inch of bamboo
can hold up to 7 1/2 tons of weight.
Bamboo distribution

Most bamboo are native to warm and moist tropical and warm temperate
climates. However, many species are found in diverse climates, from hot
tropical regions to cool mountainous regions and highland cloud forests.

PAP - Professional Application Project

Objective
Develop constructive procedures from the perspective of a high performance structural system, as a
graphic or symbolic constructive concept, which represents the geometry of a structural system applicable
to the construction of housing for people of limited resources in Jalisco.

Seeking to generate positive effects in the environment from the development of local technology and
materials such as wood, bamboo, earth, among others, considering lines of experimental and heuristic-
computational work.

Particular Achievements
Construct a 5x5 m or 6x6 m shed or module using the available elements.
