1 Safety precautions

Installation
1) Please properly use the power adapter supplied for you. If you use other power adapters, you
may damage the device or cause that the device fails to work.
2) Please pay attention to the power socket or power load of power line. Overload power outlet
or damaged power line and plug may cause an electric shock or fire. Regularly check the
relevant connection, replace it immediately, if damaged.
3) It shall have adequate space for heat dissipation to avoid any problems caused due to
overheating of this product and related accessories. Keep heat emission hole unobstructed,
do not cover the heat emission hole of the device with any object.
4) Do not place the product in a place near a heat source or with high temperature, and avoid
sunlight.
5) Do not put this product in a humid place or a place close to moisture.
6) Do not place this product on an unstable platform.

Application
1) When you do not use the product or want to clean this product, please remember to turn off
the power and unplug the power line carefully, not that the surface temperature of power
adapter may be high.
2) When you turn off the power of the product, please wait at least 15 seconds and then turn on
the power again.
3) In order to ensure that the product is not damaged due to surge of lightning or current and
voltage. When you do not use the product during a period of time, please unplug the power
line.

Service
Do not disassemble this product or open the shell by yourself, and please do not attempt to repair this
product, otherwise, your product will lose warranty rights and interests. When the product has the
following questions, please contact your service provider in a timely manner.
1) Power line or plug is damaged.
2) There are liquid falling into the product.
3) Soaked by rain or other liquids.
4) Fail to operate normally although following the operating instructions.
5) Being dropped or damage of shell caused by hitting.
6) Abnormal operation instructions.

2 Production introduction

2.1 Introduction

Dear customer, thank you for using our multi-service household gateway products.
Multi-service household gateway is a modular access gateway. We use it as the center to establish
household network, allowing multiple devices to share Internet network connection to provide users
with Data, VOIP and IPTV services.

2.2 Function

1) Connect to the Internet by ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+.


2) Provide VOIP service.
3) In-house network interconnection and Internet access, including LAN/WLAN mode interconnection
and access.
4) Routing and NAT function to realize Internet connection sharing.
5) Support firewall / access control functions and provide household network safety protection.
6) Ease of use, user-friendly installation and use.
7) Manageability, operators can manage the equipment and business safely.

2.3 Top panel

The top panel of the multi-service household gateway is shown as below:

2.5 System requirements

When you use multi-service residential gateway, make sure that the following conditions are met:
1) Internet service provider (ISP), use ADSL to obtain the service of Internet service provider.
2) If the computer installed with Ethernet network card uses wireless access, it shall be
equipped with 802.11b/g wireless network card or built-in 802.11b/g wireless network card.
3) The telephone is used to display IP phones.
4) Ensure that each computer needing to access the network can run either Windows
98/Me/2000/xp/VISTA or Linux operating system at least, is properly installed network card
drive driver and TCP/IP protocol and conducted correct network settings.
5) Multi-service household gateway is set to a fixed IP address or obtains dynamic IP address
assigned by DHCP server, or the IP address assigned during PPPoE dialing. It also needs to
set up gateway server address and DNS server address provided by your Internet service
providers.
6) Verify that a computer in local LAN is installed with WEB browser, such as Microsoft Internet

Explorer 6.0 or above, Firefox 3.0 or above.

3. Production installation

3.1 Equipment connection

3.1.1 Installation equipment

1. Take out the multi-service household gateway from the packing box and get out the power adapter
and the appropriate cables.
2. Put the multi-service household gateway on the desk and other flat objects. Ensure that the multi-
service household gateway devices are placed in the places easily covered by the wireless signal in
order to improve the performance of the wireless connection.

Note:
Enough space should be set aside around the equipment, do not block the heat emission holes,
so that the device can dissipate heat normally. Do not place the device near heat sources or the
position with direct sunlight.

3.1.2 Connect WAN network interface

1. Connect the optical fiber to the WAN network interface.

3.1.3 Connect LAN network interface

1. Insert the Ethernet cable with RJ-45 interface into the network interface of the device at LAN side.
2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet interface.

Note:
Do not insert the telephone line jack into any RJ-45 network interface. Otherwise, it may damage
the device. Please use the Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connector and meeting with the standard
requirements.

3.1.4 Connect the telephone

1. Connect one end of the telephone line with RJ-11 connector to the telephone.
2. Connect the other end of the telephone line of RJ-11 connector to the telephone interface of device.

Connect the power adapter

1. Connect the output terminal of the devices original power adapter and the devices power socket
and the other terminal is inserted into power socket.
Press the power button to confirm that the devices power indicator is lighted.

Note:
Please select standard device power adapter. If you use the wrong power adapter, it may cause
damage of device.

4 Preparations for setting

4.1 Factory default

1. The default IP address of HGUs interface at LAN side: 192.168.1.1. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0.
2. HGU enables DHCP server by default, PC can obtain IP address from HGU via DHCP.
3. When log in HGU from Web page, the initial user name is admin, password: admin (please contact
the Internet service provider to obtain password). Ordinary user account is: user/user.
4. The default wireless WLAN (Wi-Fi) webmaster name (i.e. SSID), default wireless encryption mode
and default encryption keys are marked in HGU label.

Note:
When the setting occurs error, so that the device is unusable, or forgotten login password, it is
required to restore the default settings, i.e. under the normal operation of the device, insert a needle
into the Reset hole, press Reset button, the system will automatically restore the factory default
settings and reboot automatically.

4.2 Check equipment connection configuration

Please check and confirm the following contents:


1) It has used a crossover or straight-through cable to connect the computer with any Ethernet
port (LAN1 ~ LAN4) of HGU and confirmed that the corresponding indicator at LAN port lights
for long time or blinks.
If you use a wireless network to connect, please confirm that WLAN (Wi-Fi) network has been set
up and make sure that the corresponding indicator at WLAN port lights for long time or blinks.
2) It has properly set up the computers TCP/IP and it is recommended to adopt the way of
obtaining IP addresses automatically.
3) Any firewall or security software under operation is prohibited.
4) It needs to close the proxy settings of IE and other browsers.
5) It requires the service provider to provide some data and please consult the service provider
for details.

4.3 Login

HGU provides WEB interface-based device function and users can set up and manage HGU through
WEB browser.
1. Open IE browser, input http://192.168.1.1 (the default IP address of HGUs interface at LAN side) in

the address bar, press the Enter key to display the following login page.

2. When you enter the correct user name and password, click [OK] button to log in WEB page of HGU,
as shown below:

5 Equipment status

5.1 Check equipment information

1. Click the [Info Summary] link on WEB page.


2. Enter the devices basic information page as shown below, and the displayed basic information
includes:

2. Enter the WAN network connection information page as shown below, including the information
related to WAN network connections.

5.3 Check interface statistical information

1. Click the [Info Statistics] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the LAN port statistical information page as shown below by default, including
LAN port and WAN port statistical information.

5.3.1 Check LAN interface statistical information

1. Click the [Info Statistics LAN] link on WEB page.


2. Enter the LAN port statistical information page as shown below, including LAN port statistical
information.

3. Click the [Reset Statistics] button at the left bottom of the page to reset the current statistical
information.

5.3.1 Check WAN interface statistical information

1. Click the [Info Statistics WAN Service] link on WEB page.


2. Enter the WAN port statistical information page as shown below, including the statistical information
related to WAN port.

3. Click the [Reset Statistics] button at the left bottom of the page to reset the current statistical
information.

5.4 Check routing information

1. Click the [Info Route] link on WEB page.


2. Enter the routing information page as shown below, including relevant routing information.

5.5 Check ARP information

2. Enter the ARP information page as shown below, including ARP-related information.

5.6 Check DHCP information

1. Click the [Info DHCP] link on WEB page.


2. Enter the DHCP information page as shown below, including DHCP-related information.

6 Advanced configuration

6.1 Layer 2

1. Click the [AdvancedLayer2] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the EPON interface configuration page as shown below by default, including
EPON interface and ETH interface configuration.

6.1.1 EPON interface

1. Click the [Advanced Layer2 EPON Interface] link on WEB page.


2. Enter the EPON interface configuration page as shown below, including EPON interface-related
configurations.

3. The default interface name of EPON WAN interface is epon0/epon0, connection mode
vlanMuxMode.
4. select Remove in the list box, click [Remove] button to remove the configuration.
5 Click [Add] button, you can create a new interface configuration, as shown below. If it has created an
interface, select empty at EPON port of the page, otherwise it displays as epon0/epon0.
Configuration mode includes default Mode and VLAN MUX Mode. 3. The default interface name of
EPON WAN interface is epon0/epon0, connection mode vlanMuxMode.
4. select Remove in the list box, click the [Remove] button to remove the configuration.
5. Click the [Add] button, you can create a new interface configuration, as shown below. If it has
created an interface, select empty at EPON port of the page, otherwise it displays as epon0/epon0.
Configuration mode includes default Mode and VLAN MUX Mode.

Note:
If the configuration mode is Default Mode, you can not create a bridge mode as establishing
network connection.

6.1.2 ETH interface

1. Click the [Advanced Layer2 ETH Interface] link on WEB page.


2. Enter the ETH interface configuration page as shown below, including ETH interface-related
configurations.

3. Click the [Add] button, you can create a new interface configuration, as shown below. The
configuration mode includes Default Mode, VLAN MUX Mode and MSC Mode.

4. If it creates Ethernet interface eth1/eh1, the mode is Default Mode, click [Apply/Save], the result is
as shown below:

Note:
1. If the configuration mode is Default Mode, you can not create a bridge mode as establishing
network connection.
2. You can only create the Layer2 configuration for one ETH interface.

6.2 WAN service configuration

1. Click the [Advanced WAN Service] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the WAN connection configuration page as shown below by default, including
WAN connection-related configuration.

4. Select Layer 2 Interface (related to [Advanced Layer2] configuration page information), take
epon0/epon0 as an example, click the [Next] button, as shown below:

6.2.1 Configure PPPoE-type WAN connection

PPPoE: Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, provide point-to-point connection in the Ethernet
(requires user authentication), establish user-oriented session channel.
1. Select WAN service type PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE), service description default
pppoe_epon0, as shown below:

1. Select WAN service type as IP over Ethernet, the service default description is ipoe_epon0, as

6.3 Address configuration at LAN side

1. Click the [Advanced LAN] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the LAN connection configuration page as shown below by default, including
LAN-related configurations.

Enable DHCP Server Set as enabled DHCP server, the default state is
enabled. When enable the DHCP server function (LAN
side), HGU can dynamically assign IP address for
LAN-side clients. In one network, it only allows to

enable one DHCP server.
Start IP Address Initial IP address assigned by DHCP Server. To change
the start or end IP address, please confirm that the
address range and HGUs IP address are in the same
network segment.
End IP Address End IP address assigned by DHCP Server. To change
the start or end IP address, please confirm that the
address range and HGUs IP address are in the same
network segment.
Leased Time Lease term means the time that DHCP server leases
IP address, it is calculated in hours and the default
value is 24 hours. Lease term means a period that the
clients can lease IP address from the dynamically
assigned IP address pool. At the end of the lease time,
it can re-lease or issue a new IP address via DHCP
server.
Static IP Lease List Static IP lease list, you can assign a specified IP
address to a specific MAC address, it support 32
groups at maximum.

3. In above figure, configure parameter according to the parameters description mentioned in above
table.
4. After completion of configuration, click [Save /Apply] button to submit the current configuration
information.

6.4 NAT configuration

1. Click the [Advanced NAT] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the NAT configuration page as shown below by default, including NAT-related
configuration.

Note:
You only can configure this service when it adds a route-mode WAN connection with NAT
function.

6.4.1 Configure Virtual Servers

1. Click the [Advanced NAT Virtual Servers] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the Virtual Servers configuration page as shown below by default.

6.4.2 Configure Port Triggering

2. The system will enter the password setting page as shown below.

Page parameters are described as below:


Parameter name Description
User Name User name.
Old Password Old password of corresponding user.
New Password New password of corresponding user.
Confirm Password Confirm the new password of corresponding user.

3. After completion of configuration, click [Save /Apply] button to submit the current configuration
information.

10.7 Upgrade

1. Click the [ManagementUpdate] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the update page as shown below.

3. Click [browse] button, select corresponding update file.
4. Click [Update Software] to perform update operation.

Note:
Upgrade process takes about two minutes. After the completion of upgrade, the router will
automatically reboot.

10.8 Reboot device

1. Click the [ManagementReboot] link on WEB page.


2. The system will enter the device reboot interface as shown below.

3. Click [Reboot] button to perform reboot operation.
