feasible and Culturally acceptable can be termed as resource.

Q.2 Enumerate the classification of resources on the basis

of origin?

Ans : On the basis of origin: Resources are classified into biotic and a
biotic. Biotic means living things (Plants, animals, Humans)
A biotic means Non living things (soil, sunlight, wind, rocks etc)

Q.3. Explain the type of resources on the basis of

exhaustibility with the help of examples?

Ans : on the basis of exhaustibility: resources are classified into

renewable and Non renewable resources.

Renewable resources: resources which can be renewed or reproduced

by physical, chemical or mechanical processes are known as
renewable for example solar, wind, water etc

Non renewable: The resources which take millions of year in their

formation and get exhausted with their use is non renewable
resources .minerals and fossil fuels are non renewable resources.

Q.4.Explain the type of resources on the basis of status of

development, with the help of examples.

Ans: on the basis of status of development resources are: Potential,

developed, stock& reserves.

i)Potential: There are certain resources which are known to us but due
to certain reasons we are not utilising it presently it would be used in
future for example the western part of India as enormous potential for

the development of wind and solar energy for so far these have not
been developed properly.

ii)Developed or actual: Resources which have been already being

developed and which are presently being used by us, its quality and
quantity is known to us for Example iron and coal fields of Jharkhand.

Q.5 : Explain the type of resources on the basis of ownership

with the help of examples?

Ans : on the basis of ownership resources are: Individual, community

owned National and international resources.

i) Individual resources: resources which are owned privately by

individual are said to be individual resources for example private
house, plots, shops etc.

ii) Community owned resources: There are resources accessible to all

the members of community are said to be community owned resources
for example in villages pasture lands, ponds , places of worship are
common for all.

iii)National : All resources comes under countries political boundary is

nations property . All resources such as minerals, water resources,
forest, and oceanic area up to 19.2 km from coast termed as territorial
water and resources in it belong to nation.

iv) International resources: There are certain resources which do not

belong to any country said to be international resources which are
controlled or regulate by international organisations.

problems justify this statement.
OR
High light any three problems associated with the
indiscriminate use of resources by the human beings.

Ans: Indiscriminate use of resources leads to

1. A rapid depletion of resources.

2. An economic divide in society.( i.e. rich and poor)

3. Environmental and ecological problems.( i.e ozone layer depletion .

global warming.etc.)

Q.2.what is meant by sustainable development? why does

this issue attract
attention of scientists, economist and social scientists?
Explain

Ans. In simple terms, sustainable development means that

development should take place without damaging the environment and
development of present time must not compromise with the need of
future generation. According to U.N conference, it is
defined as development that fulfills the need of the present-generation
without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their
own needs. Sustainability of development is
comparatively a new area of knowledge in which scientists, economist
and social scientists etc are working together. The progress and
development will be complete only when it is sustainable.

Q.3.Describe three different ways to implement sustainable

development?

4 CBSEPLANET.WEEBLY.COM
Ans: Three ways to implement sustainable development are:

1. Increased use of renewable and cheap sources of energy.

2. Less use of fossil fuel.

3. Introduction of organic farming.

4. Adopting measures to reduce global warming and implement global

limits on carrion emission.

Q.4. what are the objectives of agenda 21?

Ans: Aims of Agenda 21 are:

1. Prevent damage to the environment.

2. Fight Poverty and diseases.

3. Encourage local government to form their own agenda 21 based on

local issues.

Q.5. what is resource planning? What is the need for

planning of resources?

Ans: Proper utilisation of resources in a planned and sustainable

manner is known as resource planning.

1. It is needed to stop indiscriminate, irresponsible and over use of

resources which leads to several social economical and environmental
problems.

2. It is needed to stop fast depletion of resources.

3. It is needed to stop environmental and ecological problems.

Q.6. Describe three stages involved in resource planning.

5 CBSEPLANET.WEEBLY.COM
Ans : resource planning involves

1. Identification and estimating the resources available through

surveying and mapping.

2. Evolving technology, skilled personal and institutions to implement

plans.

3. Continuously monitoring and guiding resources development plans

to match the overall national development goals.

Q.7. Planning is the widely accepted strategy for judicious

use of resources in a country like India. Justify this
statement with the relevant points and an example.

Ans: 1. In India, there are regions which are rich in certain type of
resources but are deficient in some other resources.

2. Some regions are self sufficient in terms of the availability of

resources.

3. Some regions have acute shortage of some vital resources.

Q.8. What do you understand by conservation of resources?

Ans: The careful and prudent utilisation of resources by keeping future

needs in mind and preventing the depletion of the same by giving them
time for it to regenerate or get renewed is called conservation of
resources .for conservation we have to think about following Golden
Rs i.e reduce ,reuse ,recycle and refuse.

Q.9. Resources are an indispensable part of our lives. Almost

everything we, use is a resource itself Support the
statement stating values required in conservation of
resources.

6 CBSEPLANET.WEEBLY.COM
Ans: 1.Resources are being used everything whether it is domestic,
agricultural or industrial sphere. In all the stages of development
human beings have used resources for the livelihood, festivities etc

2. We must use resources judiciously. We should use them in Planned

and sustainable manner.

3. We should follow three Rs for its conservation in our day today life.

Q.10. Why is the issue of sustainability relevant for

development? Explain.
