consisted of multiple questions that allowed the student to describe who she was and what she liked to do.
We moved to room another room and went over two surveys: Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences. We
asked Tara a few questions from each survey and she was able to verbally answer the questions for us.

My student did not come to his tutoring session today so I sat with Seja Gamble and Tara McAndrews. We
worked with Tara on adding and subtracting numbers. We began by playing Math War where we had to
add up the numbers that were presented on the cards. We then moved onto adding adding/subtracting using
manipulatives to provide a more visual/tactile way of learning.

Today session we got to help Tara with adding and subtracting. She seems to have difficulty adding and
subtracting numbers but we were able to provide her with different tricks and strategies to help her have a better
understanding of how to add and subtract. There were times that Tara did seem anxious/nervous but we
reminded her that we are her to help and for her to ask for help when she needed it. She did extremely well and
was receptive to using counters to help her add and subtract.

We worked with Tara on with Addition and Subtraction number sentences

We began the session with a game of kahoot. This game had a huge significance for Tara because it catered
to a particular show she is throuroughly interested in. While playing kahoot, the tutors introduced block
manipulatives to help Tara see the problem for herself. She then continued with the kahoot for herself.

Next, We worked on basic subtraction probems and allowed Tara to come up with the number sentences. We
included characters from her favorite show which allowed for her full attention. Tara used the large
numbers to show
room and went over two surveys: Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences. We asked Tara a few questions
from each survey and she was able to verbally answer the questions for us.

We worked with Tara on with Addition and Subtraction number sentences with regrouping.

We began the session with a game of identifying characters from Soul eater. This game had Tara identify
and talk about the characters seen throughout the show. Tara enjoyed identifying the different characters
and telling her tutors the importance of each character. Next, we worked on adding and subtracting double
digit numbers. Tara did well with this activity and needed the manipulatives to help complete the different
math problems. Lastly, Tara completed a quiz on Kahoot. During this activity, Tara seemed to get anxious
and began to bang stomp her foot on the ground while trying to complete a math problem. It appeared that
Tara was nervous about completing the problem before the dragon ran out. Her tutors reassured her to not
worry about the dragon and that they would help her complete the math problem.

Massive improvement from the previous week.

Reflections:

Todays session went well. There was tremendous improvement with Tara from her attitude to her
willingness to do the activities. She was all in this session and really enjoyed working with her favorite show
Soul Eater.

We worked with Tara on identifying the four different types of sentences.

We began the session with a Brain Pop video of the four kinds of sentences. Tara really enjoyed watching
Moby and Tim name and identify the four types of sentences. She was very attentive and engaged
throughout the video and she did extremely well with the mini quiz presented at the end of the video. Next
we completed an activity on the floor that required a mat that had four different columns that identified the
four different types of sentences. Tara was presented with different sentences that she read and then had to
place the sentence in the corresponding column. She enjoyed this activity and was very engaged in it. Lastly,
we played red light, green light. During this game, Tara and her tutor lined up and the other tutor stood by
the door holding different sentences. The idea of this game is to identify the different kind of sentences
presented and then the person who answered correctly would take two steps closer to the door. Tara was a
ROCKSTAR today!

Massive improvement from previous class and lots of confidence.

Reflections:

Tara was a ROCKSTAR and seemed to have a lot of confidence today! She was all in this session and really
enjoyed the different activities that we had planned!

We began the session with a game of Kahoot about the four kinds of sentences. Tara loved playing the
Khoot and she was really excited when we pulled it up on the SMART Board. After playing Kahoot, Tara
was presented with a SMART Lesson about the different types of sentences. Throughout the slides, Tara had
to identify the definitions of each type of sentence, identify the types of sentences, and placing the correct
punctuation at the end of the sentence. Tara did very well using the SMART Board and completing each
page. After the SMART Lesson, we went into the hallway to play red light, green light. During this game,
Tara and her tutor lined up and the other tutor stood by the door holding different sentences. The idea of

We worked with Tara on adding and subtracting.

We began the session with adding and subtracting simple numbers using counters. Tara seemed nervous
and was very quiet during this time. We reassured her that we would help her if she needed it. We then
played a game of war. During this game, we all flipped over a card from our pile at the same time. Tara
then had to identify which card had the highest number. The person that had the highest number collected
all three cards. Lastly, Tara had to solve some word problems that then allowed her to decode a riddle. Tara
did well with completing the word problems. She used the counters to help her solve the word problems.

It was a pleasure to get to know Tara. She loves music and is very creative!

Reflections:

Tara has come a long way since coming the beginning of the tutoring sessions. She is very confident with
Language Arts and Reading but does have difficulty with math. She has progressed in Math since we first
began which was great to see.
