A Healthier Meal
According to the DRV's I need a basis of 2,100 calories a day for my age and sex category which is for a female in the age range of
19-24. With the information provided and calculated for the four hamburger meals from four separate restaurants the least and
most nutritious meals were determined. Since I have high cholesterol levels for my age, I tend to watch the amount of cholesterol I
consume to prevent being put on medication. Therefore, the least nutritious meal for me is Burger King's hamburger meal because
it has the highest cholesterol , weighing in at 35 mg, out of the other three hamburger meals. On the other hand the most
nutritious meal is the McDonald's hamburger meal, weighing in at 30 mg in cholesterol and 20 g in total fat. There was a tie for the
cholesterol value in the McDonald's hamburger meal ,the Wendy's hamburger meal, and the Back Yard Burger's hamburger meal.
Therefore, I factored in the amount of total fat since fat does play a role in cholesterol levels. Therefore, the McDonald's meal won
with an amount of 20 g of total fat versus the Wendy's meal with 23 g of total fat and the Back Yard Burger's meal with 51.7 g of
total fat. Overall, this meal activity shows the four different restaurants' low and high values based off a given item from the menu.
This information helps individuals, like myself, determine which is the healthier choice of meal based off the individual's specific
needs and health concerns.
