1.0 Scope
This Method Statement explains the procedure of Wet Area waterproofing system in
proper manner.
2.1 Materials :
(a) Nitoproof 30 Coating
3.0 Responsibility
Project Manager
Project Manager will be responsible for implementation of this method
statement by complying Safety and Quality Requirement at site.
Site Engineer
Site Engineer will be responsible for supervising the waterproofing work by
providing HSE and QA/QC requirements.
Safety Officer
Safety Officer will be responsible for giving necessary HSE related advice to
the construction team.
Foreman
Foreman shall be responsible for coordinating all works with workers related to
waterproofing work.
Attention to full and proper preparation of the substrate is essential for complete
adhesion.
All surfaces should be dry and free from contamination such as oil, grease, loose
particles, decayed matter, moss, algal growth, laitance, and all traces of mould
release oils and curing compounds. This is best achieved by lightly grit blasting or
high-pressure water jetting the surface.
Treatment with a proprietary biocide should be carried out after the grit blasting,
in areas where moss, algae or similar growths have occurred.
5.0 Application:
Before use, stir the contents of the Nitoproof 30 tin well and replace the lid when
not in use.
In case of any spillage, stir the Nitoproof 30 well and replace the lid when not in
use.
Apply Nitoproof 30 at a rate of 1m per liter; this will achieve a dry film thickness
of 0.75mm. Two coats of Nitoproof 230 should be applied providing a total dry film
thickness of 1.5mm. The first coat should be allowed to dry completely.
The second coat should be applied at right angles to the first coat.
All applications should be carried from the horizontal to the vertical surfaces up to
the existing damp proof course or a minimum of 150mm.
During application and subsequent operations, care should be practiced so that the
membrane is not damaged or punctured. In case of any damage Nitoproof 30 can be
readily over coated to restore the continuity of the membrane.
When the surface is to receive a render or a plaster finish, a keyed surface should
be formed by gritting the second coat of Nitoproof 30 with clean, dry sand.
The waterproofing membrane shall be mixed and applied in full accordance with
the manufacturers instructions.
Test each area for leaks after waterproofing and before protection course
and overlaying construction are placed.
Plug drains pipes and fills with water to a depth of 50-100mm and floods
each area for 24 hours.
After completion the repair work, make further tests until waterproofing
course is watertight.
Attention will be given to ensure safety of all devices being used for the job.
Accident / incidents Investigation and Reporting Procedure will be followed in
case of any incident.
Proper escape route in case of evacuation should all be designated, marked and
notified to all personnel.
