Mission
The mission of Wellstone International High School is to develop globally competent students through rigorous coursework, acceleration in
English language acquisition, graduation pathways, and access to support and enrichment services.

Proposed Goal:
To courageously lead Wellstone staff and students processing through an equity lens how who they are
impacts what they do
To provide tools for staff to participate in restoration with students who have experienced trauma,
microaggressions and explicit racism so that it is restorative rather than punitive that supports the hierarchy of
power and privilege

To increase communication, build trust and support between families and teachers by increasing personal and
professional cultural awareness for all involved.

THE HOW: (Set a schedule for the visits, for debrief and reflection, and evaluation)

Home Visit August and Spring (March/April)


1. Call students and families to ask if interested in a home visit
2. Call students and families to ask what time would be best & how many people can attend particular home
3. Locate teams/partners in visiting home (maybe by colored teams)
4. Things to consider = taking off shoes, shaking opposite gender hands, check own body language, accept snacks, etc.
5. Create schedule/addresses
6. Transportation plan: bus, walk, car, bike
7. Visit with an open heart and an open mind (growth mindset)
8. Balance conversation example: not a technical conversation on school.

- Hello, My name is and I am calling from Wellstone International High school. Our staff would like to start the year by
visiting your home and getting to know you and your family. This will be a time to meet and find out more about your student
(s) and how we can best support your needs. If you are interested, we will come visit on Tuesday August 24th anytime from
1:00-4:00. What time would work for you?
- Let them know that we do not want lunch or a meal.
