A Passionate Guided Tour of an Unseen World

There are lots of mushroom field guides. Chanterelle Dreams, Amanita Nightmares is not one of them.
Mushroom expert and author Greg Marley focuses on converting people from mycophobes (mush-
room fearing) to mychophiles (mushroom loving).
What results is a book that offers a little bit of everything. Marley describes and explores the histori-
cal, cultural, and ecological relevance of both edible and poisonous mushrooms, exploring how they’ve
shaped societies around the globe.
After opening readers’ eyes to the wonders of mushrooms, it wouldn’t be fair to leave them without a
way to experience them. Chanterelle Dreams, Amanita Nightmares does not disappoint, including de-
tailed descriptions, preparation methods, and recipes for some of North America’s most popular “fool-
proof ” edible mushrooms.
Chanterelle Dreams is perfect for the uninitiated beginner, or the foodie looking to rekindle their passion
for fungi.

Greg Marley has a passion for mushrooms that dates to 1971, the year he left his native
New Mexico and spent the summer in the verdant woods of central New York. Since then, he
has become an avid student and teacher of mycology, as well as a mushroom identification
consultant to the Northern New England Poison Control Center and owner of Mushrooms
for Health, a company that provides education and products made with Maine medicinal
mushrooms. Marley is the author of Mushrooms for Health: Medical Secrets of Northeastern
Fungi. He lives and mushrooms in Rockland, Maine.
