Here is a list of Professional Development sessions I have attended throughout the

2016-17 academic year:

o September 9, 2016: King's Landing Field Trip

-For this session, we attended the historical site of Kings Landing. The trip was
highly interactive, allowing for students to see old technology and ways of life. It
was engaging for us, as adults and that would remain true for young children
who have probably never seen this way of life. In the future, I would love to have
a class field trip to this site as it offers insight into the way of life back then.

o September 16, 2016: Duck's Unlimited

o September 23, 2016: Science East

o September 30, 2016: Indigenizing Education by Jennifer Brant (Brock

University)
-This session was the most powerful session I have attended this year. The
subject most saliently discussed was Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. I
was asked to speak at the end of this session and give my thanks. I felt honored to
do so.

o October 14, 2016: Planting Stories, Feeding Communities: Knowledge,

Indigenous Peoples and Film by Dr. Paul Chaput (Queens Univeristy)
-I found this session to be particularly intriguing; as it is something I am very
passionate about. Indigenous issues are near and dear to my heart and attending
this session gave me insight into this topic and allowed for me to become more
knowledgeable so that I may best serve my future students.

o October 19, 2016: "Opening Minds and Choice Words" by Dr. Peter Johnston
(SUNY at Albany)

o February 3, 2017: First Aid Training

o February 10, 2017: Applying for Teaching Jobs

o February 17, 2017: The Elephant in the Classroom: Mental Health
