Who needs to provide Serialized
Track and Trace data?
According to the Drug Supply Chain
Security Act (DSCSA) and the
appropriate governing agencies in each
country, Supply Chain participants
must provide or receive transaction
information, history and statements for
product change of ownership.
What is Advanced Track & Trace for
Pharmaceuticals (ATTP)?
ATTP is a pharmaceutical specific
solution that addresses the regulatory
requirements for Serialized Track
and Trace. It is designed and built
specifically to address the expected
data volumes, data query and
regulatory reporting required by this
regulation.
What is going to happen to SAP
Auto-ID Infrastructure (AII) and SAP
Object Event Repository (OER)?
SAP AII / OER will be supported for
another ten years. Companies in the
Defense (DoD) sector or consumer
products will continue to use SAP AII /
OER as is.
If we are on SAP AII / OER, is there
a migration path to ATTP?
Yes, a tool kit exists along with a couple
of options to migrate your current AII /
OER solution to ATTP.
What are the primary differences
between SAP AII / OER and ATTP?
ATTP is a Life Sciences specific solution
to address the regulatory requirements
for participants in the extended Supply
Chain, such as manufacturers (MAHs),
CMOs, packagers, distributors and
dispensers. A primary difference
is the processing of serialization
randomization and scalability for the
billions of records that are anticipated to
be stored and retrieved.
What is the new functionality of
ATTP?
ATTP features the following new
capabilities:
Integration to SAP Enterprise Central
Component (ECC) through add-ons,
3rd party warehouse and packaging
products;
Error message monitoring and handling;
Repository of rules, events and
serialization numbers for query and
reporting;
Regulatory reporting; and
Pharma Network providing a hub for
information exchange.
What is Application Interface
Framework (AIF)?
AIF is one of the key features of ATTP. It
is the engine that manages and monitors
the messaging between the various
partners in the extended Supply Chain.
AIF alerts the business and technical
teams to the errors that occur to ensure
accurate data tracking and mapping.
What are the key steps in my
Roadmap for implementing ATTP?
It depends on the type of business.
CMOs will have a different path than
MAHs, Packagers, Warehouses, 3PLs
and Dispensers. Understanding the
regulations and establishing a strategic
plan and roadmap are critical to meeting
the requirements on time.
Is ATTP available in the Cloud?
Yes, ATTP can be implemented on-
premise or in the Cloud, HEC.
Must we use the HANA platform?
No, you can use alternative databases to
implement ATTP. In reality though, with
the anticipated volume of transactions,
planning for a HANA solution is advisable.

What if we do not have a SAP
Warehouse Management (WM)
solution?
ATTP integrates with 3rd party
applications via the Toolkit. The ATTP
infrastructure leverages APIs web
services, XML, RFC and SOAP
capabilities. Core WM runs natively and
integrates with ATTP.
What data volume impact does
this have on our SAP Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) system?
Serialization will not have an impact
on data volumes in SAP Enterprise
Central Component (ECC). Through the
ECC / ATTP integration, the batches
and lots from production orders and
other transactions are sent to ATTP
for assignment and association of
the batches and lots to the random
serialized lists.
We have operations in multiple
countries, how does ATTP address
these requirements?
ATTP is set up either centrally or locally
depending upon various factors such
as ERP systems, line of business,
regulatory requirements and more.
ATTP is configured by country settings
for the management of the business
rules, messaging, error handling and
reporting to government agencies.
