Any type of undergraduate courses at centrally funded technical institutes, IITs, NITs, Participating State
Government funded institutes and other institutes add on the scores of the XII or its equivalent Exams.
Other Exams scores, which are important for securing admission eligibility criteria in the IITs are JEE
(Main), JEE, Paper 1 of B.Tech. & B.E. (JEE_Main).
Different states, such as Uttarakhand, Odisha, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra,
Haryana and Punjab have joined JEE (Main) system.
JEE Apex Board conducts Joint Entrance (Main) Exam for admitting students in the centrally funded
Technical Institutes, IITs, NITs and Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
Candidates, desirous to take JEE (Advanced) Test have to qualify in JEE (Main). The candidates, who can
qualify in JEE (Advanced) will be eligible for ISM / IIT (Dhanbad).

Significant Changes Made in JEE Main 2017:


There will be no weightage given to board exam marks in calculating the rank in JEE Main exam.
To get admission in the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs whose admission are based on JEE ranks, the
applicant must have minimum 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in the 12th exam or be in the top 20
percentile in the higher secondary exam.

This is confirmed by Department of Higher Education, there will be no changes in JEE Main 2017 except
these above 2 points. Eligibility Criteria and exam pattern will remain same as JEE Main of last year.
Details of exam:-
There are 2 different papers for JEE (Main). The candidates are to choose in which type of
course they are interested.
Paper 1 is for B.Tech or B.E. and the Paper 2 is for B.Planning or B. Arch.
In case any candidate is interested to take the exam for both, he or she can do so

date in each year.
Important point to be noted
There are differences between the eligibility criteria of JEE (advanced) and JEE The aspiring
student must ensure that he or she has understood the eligibility criteria. The candidates
can seek help from the Facilitation Centers for filling their online forms. There is no fee for
seeking the help. The candidates can download the list of these Facilitation Centers from
the above mentioned official website under Information Bulletin.
