Informazioni Seconda prova orale

due Friday 19 May by 5pm

worth 10%

What are we required to do for the seconda prova orale?

The seconda prova orale will take the form of a short video prepared in groups and
submitted electronically to Agnese (a.bresin@latrobe.edu.au) by 5pm on Friday of Week 11
(Friday 19 May).

The task will take the form of a role play exercise in small groups (3-4 people) in which you
will be expected to demonstrate your ability to communicate in Italian. The scenario you will
be given will be related to the vocabulary and communicative situations studied in class.
Only once you have confirmed your group members with the teacher, will you be emailed
a scenario to prepare. Your video role play should be around 3-5 minutes in length.

You are required to record your prova orale in the One Button Studio (1BS) on Melbourne
(Bundoora) campus. You can find more information about One Button Studio at this address:
http://www.latrobe.edu.au/ed-tech/1bs and below. If we have time, we will try to make a
quick visit to the studio during class, so you can see what it looks like.

How do we book the One Button Studio (1BS)?

Bookings of up to 60 minutes at a time can be made through your La Trobe email:
o Open Outlook > Calendar (click on the square boxes in the top-left-hand corner) >
New calendar event.
o Select the date and time that suits, and click Scheduling Assistant (should be on
the right of the screen).
o Under Attendees put the email addresses of the other students in your group.
o Click Add Room at the bottom of the screen, then choose Resources 0-9 and
then select your preferred 1BS room. We have three to choose from: 1BS -
Bundoora - PS1-202 (in the Physical Sciences 1 Building) or 1BS - Bundoora - ED2-
327 (in Education 2 Building) or 1BS - Bundoora HS1 232 (in the Health Sciences 1
Building). Youll be able to see which is free at the time youve chosen.
o Finally, click OK and then Send.
You will get an email notification informing you whether your booking has been accepted or
not.

All students have automatic La Trobe card access. If you are having problems accessing the
studio with your student card please email cardaccess@latrobe.edu.au. If you require help
with Outlook Calendar then please contact the ICT Service Desk on 9479 1500.

How do we prepare?
Sketch out your scenario before your session in the studio, so that youre ready to start
recording when you get there. Make sure you read carefully through all the very helpful
information here: http://www.latrobe.edu.au/ed-tech/1bs
What do we need to bring along to the studio on the day of our booking?
You must bring your own USB Flash Drive (memory stick) with at least 500MB of free space
on it to save your finished recording. You also need to bring along your student card so that
you can get into the room. And of course, any notes, props or other resources that you and
your group think will be useful for your role play.

How do we submit our video?

One representative from each group needs to email a link to the finished video to Agnese
(a.bresin@latrobe.edu.au ). Your video will be too large to send as an attachment. There is
some information on the website mentioned above about how to compress or edit your file,
but that is quite tricky. So instead, we suggest you simply upload your finished video to
Dropbox or Google Drive and then one representative from your group must email Agnese
the link so she can access it. Please keep an eye on your email in the days after submission,
so that we can let you know of any difficulties accessing your video.

And remember, were not expecting meticulously edited Oscar-winning material! Its fine if
the recording is a bit rough around the edges the main thing is that we need to be able to
see and hear you and your group members communicating in Italian!

How will we be marked?

The marking scheme for this task is as follows:

Language and conversational strategies / 10

Content / 10
Spontaneity and naturalness /5

TOTAL / 25

BUON DIVERTIMENTO!!!

P.S. We will watch all the finished videos in class in the final practical of semester!
