Comparison of A and PL lamps'The chart above

graphically compares the lumen oulput of incandescent
A-lamps to fluorescenl PL amps.
The red lines in the graph correspond to the liJe of the
lamp in hours. PL lamps are more expensive than
incandescent lamps, but last up to 13 tlmes longer.

Fluorescent PL lamps An economical alternative, Mar-

co offers jixtures featuring Jluorescent PL lamps. The
ballast required for the lamps raises the initial fixture
price, but signi{icant energy savtngs are realized with
fluorescent Iixtures. ln addition, PL lamp life is much
longer than that of an incandescent (see chart above).
Fluorescent lixtures are best suited 10 areas thal require
constant lightlng at night, or where a pure, white light is
desired. lmportant: 7 watt iamps will not start at lower
than OoF; 9 watt lamps require 250F for rapid starl; 13
watt lamps light readily at 300F. In order to prolong lamp
life, Marco recommends exterior use tn cold climates on-
ly where the lamp can start at or above its recommend-
ed temperature and remaln Iit through lower
temperatures.

 High Pressure Sodium Lamps. When high-intensity
lighting is a requiremenl, High Pressure Sodium fixtures
are recommended. Avai able n 35 and 50 watt mode s,
HPS Ilxtures provide a great deal of ioht with com-
parative y low energy usage. Marco HPS fixtures are
suppl ed with coated 1amps. For more information on
High Pressure Sodium fixtures, see pages 3 and 6.

Tamperproofing Each fluorescent and HPS unlt rs sup-

plied standard wilh a tamperproofing set screw and a
hex wrench to protect the units and amps from van-
dallsm.

Photocell Option Ava lable as an option on

Hlgh Pressure Sodium units is the /52 photo
electric sw tch. The photocell mounts
nconspicuously on the side of the fixture
and autornatically shuts oJf the llght during
daylight hou rs.

o Finish and Diltuser Options N,4arco cast

brackets are available with two finish opt ons
and a choice of three d ffusers. This variety
o{ optlons makes the bracket serles
app icable to nearly any srtuation.
The Iinishes offered are satin aluminum, a
fine y brushed natural aluminum linish and
dark bronze, a durable, baked enamel paint.
Either of these qua ity finishes will take many
years of weathering without fading or
d sco oration.
Translucent opal diffusers (both sphere and
cy inder) are available in g ass and polycar-
bonate, the polycarbonate recommended in
areas of high vandalism. Another very
durab e dilfuser ls the clear polycarbonate
prismatic, available only in cylinders.

Mountlng Bolt Dimenslon For all wall mount brackets

in this brochure Marco provides a mounting bolt dimen-
sion (the distance from the top of the fixture to the
center of the junction box). This dimension helps con-
tractors find the correct height for placing junction
boxes.
