S.T.E.M stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This term is used
when addressing education policy and curriculum choices in schools to improve competitiveness
in science and technology development. The s in stem stands for science which is needed
because science helps prove facts. Science is used for many different reasons such as proving a
hypothesis to be true, predicting things about the universe, answering unknown questions, etc.
Science is mandatory for the world because it also helps improve it. For example, many
medications and cures are found and invented with science which saves many lives from diseases
such as Malaria. Science is used every day for new discoveries and more improvements. Without
science, we would be clueless about almost everything. The t in stem stands for technology
which is needed because technology helps make the world go around. Without technology we
wouldnt have phones, television, microwaves, and so much more. One of the great uses for
technology is when its used in hospitals. We have x-ray machines and surgery devices to help
people get better and survive. The e in stem stands for engineering which is needed because
engineers provide residences, buildings, bridges and other infrastructures that make life easier.
Engineering even provides computers which is used every day. Lastly the m in stem stands for
mathematics which is needed because it is used for many different daily tasks. Such as counting
money, adding and subtracting, and telling time. Math is used for almost everything and one of
the greatest things its used for is to teach at schools. Stem is important because it is used in
every daily activity all around the world. Careers that use stem are Aerospace Engineers, Health
Services, Administrators, Agricultural Scientists, High School Teachers, Airplane Pilots, and
Industrial Engineers.
Each part of stem is related in many ways. For example, math can reveal what scientists
discover by helping them find relationships between an experiments hypothesis and the data that
is collected. By using statistics, scientists can use data as evidence to either support or dispute
their original theories. Without the application of math, proving or disproving scientific theories
relationship between math and science. Another relationship between stem is engineering and
math. Calculus is used by engineers to determine rates of change such as acceleration or weight
changes. An engineer who designs packaging knows that a product of a certain weight must be
packaged in groups of no more than 10 because of their weight. Using calculus, an engineer can
calculate both the optimum number of objects per box, plus the optimum size of the box. The
next relationship with stem is technology and science. They both involve the study of the world
around us. For example, scientists use robots made by engineers to go up into space to find new
discoveries and answer questions. Another relationship is math and technology. The numbers that
are used in math is used in technology to get answers. Math is used in technology in many ways
such as in computers, on cars, and in banks. The next relationship is engineering and technology.
Engineers use technology all the time. For example. They use it when they are building bridges,
We encounter stem everywhere in our daily lives. Everywhere you go or look stem is
being used. For example, we encounter stem at school while we are being taught. Science is
taught at every school. They teach us about Earth and what goes on in it. They teach us about
outer space and what happens up there. Science is mandatory for our lives because without it
humans would not know basic things. At school math teachers are teaching us and preparing us
to learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Not only is math used at school, but it is used
at home. Say if you are baking a cake. You will need math in order to know how much baking
soda, sugar, and cups of milk you will need. That is called measuring which is a type of math.
Engineering is happening every day. Many engineers develop new /improved products. This
process applies to the development of many different products, such as chemicals, computers,
helicopters, and even toys. The bridges and roads we drive over every day are because of
engineers. Engineers help make our lives easier. Lastly, technology is encountered every day as
we use the computers, watch videos on our phones, and tell the time on our fancy watches. Every
year technology improves. Technology saves energy because it does most of the work for us. For
example, back in the day in order to find information you had to go the library. Now all someone
A couple of careers that use stem are biochemist and an industrial engineering technician.
order to do this, science is needed. Biochemist scientists research experiments. While doing that
they use the scientific method to make an observation, have a hypothesis, experiment, and lastly
achieve an observation. Biochemists also study the immune system, the expressions of genes,
isolating, analyzing, and synthesizing different products, mutations that lead to cancers, and
manage laboratory. They do all of this in a science lab. Biochemists need to have the abilities of
designing and building laboratory equipment which is engineering. They study the effects of
foods, drugs, allergies and other substances on living tissues. That is another example of using
science. Next is industrial engineering technician which is the use of engineering and
manufacturing technology to make production faster, more simple and efficient. Industrial
Engineering also collects data and make bar diagrams to see their progress which they use math
for. Technology is a huge use in this field. In order to build their products technology such as
computers and android robots are used to help. In conclusion, these are just a few working fields
