Dear Michele,

As our time together draws to a close, I present you with this portfolio as a composite of
the work I have done in this class. Thank you for your instruction and the tips you bestowed on
the class weekly. The following is a summary of how my work came to fruition and the steps it
took to get there. I hope it can be used to navigate the portfolio.

I. Writing Processes
A. Living Picture Narrative
1. I took a reflective approach to fit the prompt of how I became oriented to
writing yet also integrated how it also affected my career prospects and
currently informs my writing
B. Wikipedia Entry
1. Focus on an obscure topic of interest and gather information on it to be
curated through my writing
C. Podcast Project
1. I took more license to foster my personal voice in writing this piece
II. Revision Processes
A. Living Picture Narrative
1. Revising per peer review suggestions, I clarified how both agriculture and
writing were key literacies in developing my interest in agricultural
communication, focusing on the fact that writing about agriculture helped
me overcome the obstacle of finding a balance between my love for both
literacies
B. Wikipedia Entry
1. Source integration was a major problem with my piece so I revised around
summarizing lengthy quotes and adding more analysis to explain their
significance
C. Podcast Project
1. To clarify how the clip of someone speaking on their experience as a
Black student at UC Davis was related to answering the research question,
specifically to CADSS, I added how her observation of the graduation
pictures becoming smaller reflected their perception of the center and
a) See Kayton Carter for more information on the presentation
referred to following the clip

2. Throughout the script at the end of each topic or point, I would include
how what I was talking about related back to answering the research
question.
When revising the Living Picture Narrative, picked writing over agriculture as the main focus of
the piece (source: pinterest)

III. Strengthened Course Goals

A. Metacognition
1. Through weekly reflections, I increased self-reflection by writing down
what I felt about the work I did each week or after each major project as
well as what I could do to improve it
a) Improved my writing skills by naming what needs to change rather
than making a mental note of it
b) Physically documenting how I planned to revise at the moment
after looking at peer reviews made weekly reflections a vital tool
the reference as I was making revisions since I could look back on
what I and peers expressed needed to be fixed, and then fixing it
2. The act of metacognition and the frequency at which I conducted it made
my thoughts physical and real rather than rhetorical, intangible, and farther
out of reach. Reflecting on writing in different capacities (what it means to
me, how that has or has not changed, how my writing adapts to different
genres and mediums, etc.)
B. Processes
1. By writing in different modes to fit different genres, the skillset I have
research, compose, revise, and edit was thoroughly challenged and
exercised, revealing that my process has gaps that negatively affects and is
reflected in my pieces
2. Ive improved by taking revision more seriously
IV. Continuing to Improve Writing
A. The revising I will do now for this class and becoming more comfortable with the
act of revising in general will be what I carry into future writing classes, to quite
simply execute the discipline to do it without worrying what may be lost in the
process because ultimately clarity will be gained
B. Move from a Fixed to Growth mindset

Best Wishes,

Camille
