A MUSIC VIDEO

BY C.R PRODUCTIONS
Ideas

First Idea (Music Video)

Road trip with friends out in the sun doing a load of activities, Group of friends would
go places like beside the river and jumping in slow motion to make a cinematic video
to Duke Dumont's song Ocean Drive.

Second Idea (Music Video)

Normal routine of a teenager going out to walk their dog up to the woods at 9am,
alongside there will be a comparison where an elderly man will walk his dog at the
same time at the same place. They walk their dogs together, whilst they make
friends and the dogs do the same. However, one day he stops showing up at the
same place and my video would end with the elderly mans dog passing away . The
teenager goes to his house to see some flowers by his house to indicate something
wrong, and the teenager finds out the dog had passed away. The music video
finishes with him taking him to the wood to walk the dog together, in order to show
'You'll never walk alone'.
From the respondents answers, it is clear that the majority of people thought the
'You'll never walk alone' music video is their preferred choice. However,
contrastingly, there were some valid reasons why the respondents thought the Frank
Ocean song would work better. One
reason was they thought the song
choice was better and the idea was
also(No.3). The other main reason
was the other idea would give a lot of
flexibility and editing wise the video
could be made to look well
made(No.4). With (No.4) answer, I
agree with the fact that it would give
more flexibility, however I think at the
same time it would make it less
interesting due to the lack of a story.

In the end, I chose the second idea, because there would be more of an emotional
connection to the audience and make an impact. Due to the fact I want my final
project to do this, I think the second idea for a music video to 'You'll never walk
alone' would be perfect. The planning stages are going well and my original idea is
staying strict, however I am open to make little changes to the overall music video if
needed. Therefore, I chose the 'You'll Never Walk Alone' music video to work on.
Mood Board

In my Mood Board, I have pictures of similar scenes to which I will film in

my music video. For example, the alarm clock at the start represents the
start of my music video being in the morning when the elderly man and
the younger teenager wake up. The other two photos follow on what
happens in my music video. Having the photos run in order kept my idea
fresh in my mind to what I want my music video to look like.
Content outline
Normal routine of a teenager going out to walk their dog up to the woods in
the morning, alongside there will be a comparison where an elderly man will
walk his dog at the same time in the woods. You see how they first see each
other when a ball is thrown and the elderly man picks it up and gives it back to
the teenager. There will be more cut scenes, almost like a montage of them
seeing each other repeatedly and their initial small friendship getting stronger.
However, one day he stops showing up at the same place where they meet
and it ends with the elderly mans dog passing away through elderly age. The
teenager keeps waiting at the same place like normal and the elderly man does
not turn up. The teenager knows that somethings wrong and goes to his house
to see some flowers by his front door to indicate something wrong, and the
teenager knocks on the door with no answer, after checking the back gate he
sees up with a bag of toys in a bag with a lead and collar on the floor next to
the bag. There will be no dog beside him, hinting the dog passing away.
The music video finishes with the teenager taking him to the woods to walk the
teenagers dog together and fading out.
The music video signifies the title of the song 'You'll never walk alone'. This is
because the man who was once alone was accompanied with the teenager.
Showing that there is always someone there to walk beside you, like walking
the dog together.
Target audience
I feel my target audience for my music video
would be targeted towards the older
demographic. This is because my narrative
includes a friendship between an elderly person
and a teenager. The overall meaning of the
lyrics is very similar to the story I am showing in
my music video. Therefore I feel the older
demographic would be the group wanting to
watch due to the fact they would understand
the narrative more and would be more sensitive
to the topic. My primary research clearly proves
this with the correlation it shows.

I feel my music video is aimed towards both

genders because both genders are able to
connect with the narrative of my music video.
Proven by primary research, other people
thought the same. One person thought it was
aimed towards a male audience and this may
be because it only includes male characters
however it doesnt mean you have to be male
to enjoy watching the music video.

My primary research clearly shows that my

socio economic group is D, which is the
lower class people. I feel this is because
people in the lower class are more likely to
have a harder life and will appreciate my
narrative in my music video. I think it will be
able to bring happiness to their day by
watching it.
Where will my Music Video be Shown?
The Platform where my music video will be shown is YouTube. I feel this is the
best platform to use because YouTube can be accessed via Mobile, Computer
and Smart Tv's. I think the platform is simple to use, therefore the older
demographic would be comfortable using the platform. Youtube is very also
good at showing suggested videos, therefore if people enjoy watching similar
videos like mine, its likely to come up, attracting a greater audience. YouTube
is also very mobile friendly and with one press of a button they can share
videos through Text Message, Facebook, Twitter and many more media
platforms. Through having this much flexibility, the music video can attract
more attention than any other platform out there in my opinion. Along with
the views it will also bring in a source of income due to the fact you get a
percentage of money made from advertisements on the video.
Market Competitors
I feel my idea is fairly unique in the way that there are no direct competitors
doing exactly the same thing. However, there are still companies producing
similar products to me. For example, John Lewis is a major competitor,
regarding advertising. They create short music adverts that tell a strong
meaningful story along with a song. They are known for creating these short
music videos and they produce one every Christmas. I will not release mine at
a similar date to their renowned, viral Christmas videos because I feel it would
have an effect on viewer levels. I think my music video, which is to be released
in June this summer, will have a benefit for me because there wont be any
other major competitors such as John Lewis.
Another competitor is The 3 lions - a song by Baddiel &Skinner and is well
known for being the England football anthem, like Youll Never Walk Alone.
Their football music video was released at a similar time to Liverpools song,
however it only reached 3 Million, much less attention than Liverpools song
'You'll Never Walk Alone. I think this was because Liverpool's song has more of
a connection to people listening to the song in terms of the Hillsborough
disaster. Therefore, the song is almost speaking out to the supporters that lost
their lives.

When creating my music video, I will keep in mind my competitors and use
them as my role models to make a music video recognized as the 'You'll Never
Walk Alone' music video.
