Rationale I chose to use this discussion question because it
talks about building a big store in a small town
like Wal-Mart. In order to meet this core
competency you have to be able to recognize how
economic systems influence environments. By
putting a Wal-Mart in a small town like this it very
well could/will mess up how the economic is. In
my discussion question, I show that I understand
how economic systems influence environments.
Knowledge In order to complete this discussion question I had
to read a case study and figure out what it was
about. I had to understand the concepts of
businesses and the major functions of one. I knew
all of this because I had to read and take notes
from my introduction to business textbook. I
learned about the major functions of a business
and how they are run.
Skills The main skill that I used to complete this
discussion question was reading the paper, clearly
understanding what it was saying, and saying how
I felt about it. I had to take information from the
text and use them in my answer to the question. By
adding facts it made me understand it better and
made how I felt sound stronger. I had to get all the
important information into half a page.
Growth and Improvement If I could redo this discussion question I think that
Statement I would have tried to understand the reading more.
If I would have understood the reading more I
would have been able to put more facts in and
make my claim sound stronger. I am not very good
at understanding reading so if I worked on that I
would have had a better answer to the question.
