Song title
SWEETHEART
Artist
Xanguine
Genre
Rap
A large amount of rap fans are teenagers/ adults roughly between the ages of 13-30. This could be
because of the explicit lyrics in some of the songs; a majority of this age group are also males.
Typically rap artists are stereotyped as being black. Over the years there has been a breakthrough in
the number of white rap artists but they are predominately black. Music videos could contain scenes
of the artist bragging about the amount of money that they have such as the Migos in there video
Bad and Boujee. Flash cars are shown and gold teeth which could symbolise the rappers wealth.
Often rap artists will rap about their money and it is very often shown in their music videos. Gold
chains, fast cars and girls are often seen in music videos perhaps because the artist wants to brag. In
a rap video the artist will rap towards the camera in the centre of the shot almost as if they are
talking to the audience. By leaning forward and using a low camera angle shows the artists
dominance or at least trying to give that impression. Depending on the tempo of the song, if it is fast
paced there will be lots of quick cut shots which add to the pace of the beat in the song. Cutting to
the beat of the song the video supports Andrew Goodwins theory of Thought Beats. Mainly the
music video will be narrative heavy but the main focus being based on the rapper himself. In the
early 2000s the main focus and theme in rap video was wealth and hardness through the use of
guns, violence and the way that they act in the video. Though in the 2010s hit has shifted to a lighter
tone on happiness but also heavily influenced by themes of substance abuse.
How are you going to meet these conventions in your video?
The SWEETHEART video will not be incorporating the usual conventions of Rap, it will be full of
contrast because it will have hard hitting lyrics of rap, but will be incorporating the conventions of
R&B videos. Such as bright colours, dime lights and sensuality.
The costume, which will be used with in the video of SWEETHEART, will be supplied by Amos Ntahira,
mostly consisting of bright sweaters, light shirts and suit trousers. The costume will appeal most to a
younger audience, this is because they are childrens clothes. Natural lighting will be predominantly
used throughout the video. This is because the video is supposed to be natural and free, and is also
due to the budget provide for the video is inadequate, for such expenses. The video will be located in
the countryside of southeast England, and will be shot mostly inside, the shots outside will be of the
talent interacting with nature. The types of shots incorporated in the video will be, wide shots, mid
shots and close ups, this shot variation will be best for setting the ambience of SWEETHEART.

How have these videos influenced the decisions made? Include screen shots of the key
influences
Fck the opss music video is an influence for SWEETHEART because the talent being shown on
screen is very young will, promoting very adult things. Though unlike Baby Ceos video
SWEETHEART will not be promoting violence or have explicit language.
Marvin rooms music video is an influence for SWEETHEART because it is a rap song using
atmospheric R&B convetions for the video. Though unlike Drakes video SWEETHEART will have
harder lyrics creating an even greater contrast between the video and song.
Lyrics
Insert the song lyrics below
Got your girl blowing up my phone, not calling back
Saying that she wants me will with you, what we calling that
Late night belling me, texting Im not, texting, Im not texting back
At my door 3am, rah shes go hella back
I am not playing she is not tellin
My bad, Im not trying to hit it but I fell in
So go should be selling, out of 10 and 11
Shes an angel, Charlie took a demon straight to heaven
Busting out the seams, she be so clean
Working out day and night, got me so lean
Heating up my rock, she become a fiend
We get down to business, Im her sugar in between
How will your visuals relate to the song? (Illustrate, Amplify or Disjuncture)
SWEETHEART tells the story of a young man, no older than 12 living the life style of a 24 year old
man. Meticulously showing how he will take your beloved, will remaining innocent. The lyrics heavily
contrast the title and the video will really help amplify the contrast of the character and his actions.
