Dublin assignments:

1. - The Irish economic growth in the period between 1990 and 2000, because it was a very
important period for Ireland and it shaped Ireland as it is now.
- The Irish economic crisis in the years 2008 & 2009, because it is also a very
important factor in Ireland today.
- The good friday agreement, because it brought an end to the troubles in northern
Ireland.

2. Ireland joined the EU on 1-1-1973. It has 11 seats in the european parliament and uses
the euro. They have held the EU presidency 7 times between 1975 and 2013.

4. - There are the same levels of schools as in the netherlands.

5. A memorable moment was when our host family told us that we were the only boys they
had as a host family that ate vegetables.

we didnt learn any new rules at our host family.

9. - People ignore traffic lights.


- Irish people are very proud of their national history

10. - Irish shops are also closed on sundays


- Irish families also only eat warm meals in the evening.

11. The only Irish people we really talked to were the people from our host family. In the
evening we mostly talked about where we had been that day. I didnt have any problems
communicating with them.
12. On the first day we had to be at school very early to get the bus. We went to Brussels
airport, checked in and waited for the gates to open. After a nice flight we arrived in Dublin
with a beautiful view. We were then taken to the city centre and were divided into 2 groups
for a city tour. At around 18:00 we went to see our host families and spent the evening and
night there.

On the second day we went to the National College of Ireland, where we had an English
lesson which was very entertaining. After that we walked through Dublin and past all the
beautiful churches and parks. We arrived at st. Patricks cathedral, and went inside. I bought
a souvenir there. (expensive) After dinner at the host families we were part of a traditional
Irish evening in a cafe.

On the third day we first went to the National College of Ireland again to continue our English
lesson. After that we visited Lusk community college, where we had a tour and did a few
exercises. We concluded the day with a visit to the peninsula Howth, and we walked there
for 3.5 hours. As you can imagine we had dinner relatively late that day.

On the fourth day we went to see the national archeology museum in Dublin and the national
history museum, where all species of animals were shown. In the afternoon we went to a
sports club to do all sorts of original gaelic sports. In the evening we went to a nearby
cinema with the whole group to watch Going in Style.

On the last day we were brought to the train station by our host families and said goodbye.
In Dublin we arrived at the national GPO witness history museum, which was about the
easter rising in 1916, which laid the foundation for an independent Ireland. After that I spent
some time walking through Dublin with Jens and Ivo. The flight departed at 18:20 and we
arrived at Het College at 23:30.
