2. Forcing Function
You can use the forcing function to lock variables and forcibly change their values.
Specifically, you can lock the variables in application logic, values of input and
output channels of I/O modules, data of SCS Link Transmission, Inter-SCS Safety
Communication, and Subsystem Communication. The forcing function can be used for
SCS maintenance or application debugging.
IMPORTANT
To execute the forcing function, it is necessary to set the SCS security level to Level 1 or 0.
The forcing function can be used in the target test, the SCS simulation test and the logic
simulation test. However, the I/O Lock window, SCS Link Transmission window, Inter-SCS
Communication Lock window, and Communication I/O Lock window cannot be started for
the logic simulation test.
This chapter describes mainly how to operate the I/O Lock window, SCS Link Transmission Lock
window, and Inter-SCS Communication Lock window.

For more information about forcing the subsystem communication data, see the following:
C1.6, Communication I/O Lock Window of the Open Interfaces (IM 32S05B10-21E)
In addition to the I/O Lock window, the following windows allow forcing operations on the listed
variables and parameters:
Dictionary View window:
All variables including internal variables
Parameters in some of function blocks
Multi-Language Editor window:
Variables used in FBD, LD and ST (if Spy List wondow is open)
Parameters in the User-Defined function blocks
Furthermore, in debug mode and in logic simulation mode, a Spy List window will be shown at
the lower part of SCS Manager and Multi-Language Editor, where the following forcing operation
can be performed.
Forcing the variables used in FBD, LD and ST.
A variable locked in a certain window can be unlocked in another window. Similarly, a variable
locked in an SENG can be unlocked in another SENG at different timing.
However, to unlock the variables, the Spy List window must be shown in the Multi-Language
Editor. Or you can unlock the variables in the Dictionary View.

Value setting can be performed in the Value setting dialog box in the same way as in Dictionary View.
For more information, see the following section of Workbench in Workbench Users Guide:
Write/Lock/Unlock of Debug/Simulate of Debug
When selecting a function block parameter (such INDEX in the above figure) on Multi-Language
Editor, all the instances of the function block that contain the selected parameter will be displayed
in the Spy List window.
When you select a global variable or a local variable (such as A in the above figure) on Multi-
Language Editor, the value of the selected variable appears in the Spy List window. For a global
array variable or a local array variable, if one array element is selected (such as ARRAY0[1] in
the above figure), all the elements of the array appear in the Spy List window.
If you want to only display the variables of a specified POU on the Spy List window, you can save
the variables into a variable set file. So that you can use multiple files to change the displayed
variables of different POUs.
IMPORTANT
It is important that you do not operate the variable of another scope accidentally because multiple
variables in different scopes may have the identical name.
The Spy List window may be restarted with previously displayed state. The action is as follows:
If the debug mode or the logic simulation mode is terminated while the Spy List window is
opened, the Spy List window will restart right after the debug mode or the logic simulation
mode restarts.
Under the debug mode or the logic simulation mode, if the Multi-Language Editor is
terminated while the Spy List window is opened, the Spy List window will restart after the
Multi-Language Editor restarts.
When starting the Spy List window, it will display the previously displayed variables. When
switching SCS projects, the previously displayed variables of that project will be displayed
on the Spy List window.
IMPORTANT
It is not possible to start multiple I/O Lock windows at the same time, for neither the same
SCS project nor different SCS projects.
The I/O Lock Window cannot be called up while Build or Download is running.
If you try to execute online change downloading, offline downloading, master offline
downloading, or restarting of SCS while the I/O Lock window is open, an error message is
displayed and the downloading or restarting will not be executed.
SEE
ALSO For more information about how to use the SCS security level operation function, see the following:
1.3, Security of SCS
IMPORTANT
When exiting the I/O Lock Window, if a locked variable exists, a dialog box will be displayed
for confirmation. It is necessary to open the I/O Lock Window to unlock the locked variables.
If the SCS Manager is closed or a different SCS project is opened, the I/O Lock Window will
be forcibly closed.

The error status indicates that the single channel is faulty and/or the error that activates the
Output Shutoff switch inside the output module has occurred.
The output disabled status indicates that the channel is normal, but the output from the
application logic to the field is disabled.
Moreover, if dual redundant configuration is used for the input/output modules, the status of the
channels on the control side are displayed in the row assigned for the odd slot side regardless of
the operating control status. A blank is displayed for the channel on the even slot side. If the input/
output module is dual-redundantly configured, [Dual-Redundant] is displayed in the Comment
column.
The status bar displays the number of nodes whose configuration information has been read.
ALL indicates that the configuration information of all nodes has been read.

n Enabling Output
Click the [Output enabled] button in the I/O Channel Status dialog box; the processing result of
the application logic is output to the field and the SCS operating mode changes to the Running
mode. Note that all nodes, all output modules and all channels must be in normal status in order
for the SCS to be changed to the Running mode. If there is any error, the status does not change
even if you perform the Output Enable Operation.
SEE
ALSO For more information about the I/O Channels Status dialog box, see the following:

disabled state to the output enabled state.
When IOM download is performed, the communication program is downloaded to the
communication module, and then the module restarts. The communication begins so that
the Output Enable Operation is unnecessary.

n Setting Items
The following describes the Items that should be set in the Setup dialog box.
Target of automatic acquisition
Specify an SCS to be the target of acquisition by Message Cache Service. Diagnostic
information messages and SOE event messages of the SCS specified here are collected at
the same time Message Cache Service starts up.
Maximum Capacity of Disk
The maximum message cache service size needs to be specified according to the actual
usage. Up to the maximum disk capacity can be used for Message Cache Service.
IMPORTANT
Make sure that the disk used for DISK Cache by the Message Cache Service always has
enough free space. (Default Max. Disk capacity: 800MB) Monitoring for the Maximum Capacity
is performed every 30 seconds. If the disk usage for the disk cache exceeds the Maximum
Capacity, oldest files are deleted to keep the usage rate of the disk cache at 98% to 100%.
For your information, 1MB can contain about 8000 Diagnostic Information messages or 16000
events. The cache file is stored for each station. SOE including Trip and Diagnostic Information
messages are stored separately in the cache file. If you want to keep the old cache files
undeleted, save the files in a separate folder or media from the [Save Disk Cache] dialog box.
To view the disk cache usage rate, use the Message Cache Tool: click [DISK Cache] in the tree

[Used]
Selections related to character string patterns are applied. Specify the desired patterns to be
matched.
It is possible to use wildcards of asterisks (*) and question marks (?) in the character string
patterns. * placed in front of a character string indicates any number of arbitrary characters
before the character string. If an asterisk is placed after a character string, the wildcard indicates
any number of arbitrary characters after the character string. ? is a wildcard indicating one
arbitrary character. If multiple character string patterns are specified for one pattern type (e.g.,
multiple character string patterns are specified for Message ID only), the filtering result includes
all messages matching any of the specified patterns (patterns are combined using OR condition).
If two or more pattern types are specified (e.g., a character string pattern is specified for Message
ID and Resource), the result includes only messages that match all of the specified patterns
(patterns are combined using AND condition).
In the pattern example shown in the figure above, all messages satisfying the following
conditions are displayed:
Message(s) whose message ID starts with 1101 or 1102 and whose resource name ends with
SCS0101 and whose message text includes 1 or System somewhere in the message.
TIP
Specified filter patterns are not deleted by selecting [Not Used] in order to avoid re-entering conditions from
scratch in case the specified filter patterns may be needed again. If the patterns are needed again, change the
option to [Used].
