Faith Fellowships Influence

Faith Fellowship Christian School has helped develop my character as a Christian.

During my time here, my teachers have shared with me how to be a Christian according to the

Bible, and have helped me grow in my faith. My Christian walk has not only been influenced in

school, but outside of it as well on the basketball court. From elementary chapel to basketball

practice, I have been influenced to live my life for Gods glory.

Since kindergarten, we have had daily devotion time and weekly chapels. These helped

with my understanding of Christianity and how I was supposed to live for the Lord. I learned the

different Fruits of the Spirit, and learned that we as Christians should be different than the rest of

the world. When I entered middle school, devotion time turned into Bible class. Throughout the

years, we have gone from Genesis all the way to Revelation, and have been taught many

valuable lessons. More recently, we were taught about unity, and of how imperative it is for

Christians and the Church. We cannot allow petty differences, such as whether to take collections

on Sunday or to have a box that people can place money into, to separate and hurt fellow

believers. We need to be unified under God, and love as Jesus loved. In doing this, we glorify

God. Through the continuous teaching and reading of the Bible, my faith has grown and my walk

with God has become closer.

Participating on the FFCS varsity basketball team has also developed my character as a

Christian. I joined basketball when I was in sixth grade. It was the first year that Mr. Widrick

coached. Mr. Widrick not only taught basketball, he taught us life lessons. During his coaching, I

learned accountability, humility, responsibility, and how to work with people as a team. When we

played, we had an end goal in mind, which was to win the tournaments, and everything we did

led up to that. This was likened to our lives. As Christians, we need to live with the end goal in

mind, which is heaven. What we do needs to be for Gods glory. He told us that our lives were

bigger than a basketball game, but we needed to have the same perseverance and discipline in

our lives as we do on the basketball court. Basketball through FFCS influenced my faith in a

positive way.

I have been influenced on how to live my life as a Christian through Bible classes and

chapels at school, and through the basketball program at FFCS. Devotional times and Bible

classes, as well as chapels, have taught me what it means to be a Christian and how to live my

life as one. Basketball has taught me different aspects of being a Christian, such as responsibility

and humility. Faith Fellowship Christian School helped develop my character as a Christian.
