1. SCOPE
This describes the field inspection of FOX pin and box thread.

2. PIN THREAD INSPECTION


Tools and gauges required for field inspection may vary dependent on
particular situations, but for most running and pulling operations the following
equipment is sufficient:

Depth Gauge (Pit gauge)


Fine Tooth Triangle File (Small)
Scotch Brite
Emery Cloth

The pin thread inspection criteria and action is shown in Fig. 1.

Inspection is conducted visually and by touch of hands, and any required

The box thread inspection criteria and action is shown in Fig. 3.


Inspection is conducted visually and by touch of hands, and any required
repairs to the connection should be conducted in accordance with the
requirements of Fig.3.
Slight burrs or damage to threads can be removed with emery cloth and
moderate damage can be repaired with file and followed with emery cloth.
