DPAB,orDynamicPersonalAddressBook.DPABisarepositoryofrecentlyseenhighvaluecontacts.Itisrepresentedintheuser'sPersonalContactsasRecentContacts.

DIP,orDynamicInterestProfiler.DIPcontrolstheweightingthatdeterminestheorderofthetypeaheaddropdownlistinLocalContactsandtheSearchDirectory.

Thisweightingrepresentstheuser'srelationshiptoaperson.Itisbasedonthenumberoftimestheusersendsandreceivesmailfromthatperson,eitherasaToorCopyTo
recipient.TheDIPweightingisnotvisibletotheuser.

UserSummary.TheDPAB/DIPstartsprocessingthenamesonunreadmailwhentheNoteisclosed.TheDPAB/DIPdoesnotprocessmailfromthepreviewpane,unlesstheuser
hasselectedtomarkdocumentsviewedinpreviewasREAD.

Processingisalsodonewhentheusersendsmail.It'sdoneinbackgroundqueuessoastonotdisrupttheuser,collectingthelistofnamesandqueueingupthatlistforDIP
weighting.

Next,thenamesthatarenewtotheDIPlistarequeueduptobeaddedtotheuser'sRecentContacts.Foreachnewrecentcontact,anewRecentContactrecordiscreated.This
recordiscreatedfromtheservercontactwhenthatcanbefound.Ifitcannotbefound,theRecentContactrecordisstillcreated,butitcontainsonlytheinformationthatwasavailable
fromthemail.

AspecialcaseismadeforGroups.TheGroupRecentContactcontainsonlyastubrecordwithnomembers.ItwasassumedthatinformationintheRecentContactgrouprecordwas
morelikelytobeobsoletethanthecontentofaPersonrecord.Themembersofthegroupareretrievedfromtheservercopyofthegrouprecordwhentheyareneeded.

TheinformationinRecentContactsisupdatedfromtheservercontactinformationonceeverysevendays.

TheRecentContactsandtheirweightingvalueareusedwhencreatingthetypeaheaddropdownlist.ThenamesdisplayedinboththeLocalContacttypeaheaddropdownand
theSearchDirectorydropdownaresortedbyweight,notalphabetically,eitherbyfirstorlastname.Weightisdefinedashowoftenapersonorgrouphasappearedinmessage
addressfields.

FortheLocalContactsdropdown,namesareobtainedfromlocalContactrecords,whichincludeRecentContacts,MyContacts,andanyadditionallocaladdressbooksthe
userhassetupinuserpreferences.
FortheSearchDirectory,resultsareobtainedfromtheserverdirectoriesandarelimitedtofiftymatches.Thedropdowndisplaysamaximumoftwentynamessortedbyweight.
Weightvaluesarenotdisplayed.

WithacommonnamesuchasJohn,it'spossiblethatasearchmightnotreturnthepersonyouaresearchingfor.Inthatcase,itmightbebettertousepartorallofthesurname.

DPAB/DIPAging.TheDIPtabledoesnotpurgeanyentrieshowever,it'spossiblefortheusertomanuallydeleteaRecentContactsrecord.Thisfeatureisavailableinreleases8.01
andhigher.

RecentContactsdoes,however,haveamaximumrecordcount.Thedefaultmaximumrecordcountisapproximately3000,whichcanbechangedviatheNotes.iniparameter

Whentherecentcontactsarebeingupdated,anylowweightrecordsexceedingthemaximumcountwillbedeletedfromRecentContacts.ThenumberofRecentContactrecords

MovingRecentContactrecordstoMyContacts

RecentContactsarenoteditable.IfyouwanttomodifytheinformationonaRecentContactorareconcernedthatanoccasionallyusedcontactmightageofftheRecentContacts,
youshouldmovethecontacttoMyContacts,usingtheMovetoMyContactsbuttonatthetopoftheview(seefigure1).

RemovingRecentContacts

BlackBerrysynchronization

YoucansynchronizeNotescontactswithBlackBerrycontactsifyouchoosetheoptiontostoreacopyofthelocalcontactsinthemailfile.However,RecentContact
recordsarenotcurrentlyreplicatedaspartofthiscopy,sotheBlackBerrycannotusethisinformation.
