In the global society, 2016 was the year of Ultranationalism.

The
reason why I believe is that of Brexit and Trumps victory. I could
find similarities between those two unexpected results and I think
these results represent a global trend which flows to isolation and self-
interest. I want to learn politics in greater depth and would like to
carry out research to figure out why many people start to be
ultranationalists.

The president of South Korea, Park Geun-hye, is involved in a

corruption scandal which has generated enormous protests and voted
for the impeachment of the president at the parliament. I took part in
a protest for this scandal at Oxford, I learnt the fact all state authority
emanates from the people. In Korea, politics means to change
something from chaos to cosmos, therefore, making our society a
better place to live. It seems like nothing has changed in this world
compare to the past even though there are politicians on this planet.
Therefore, I wholeheartedly want to modify this world a better place
for all the people.

Undoubtedly, one of the most important virtues of a politician is

listening carefully and expressing ideas. Thus, I constantly
participated and run debate club since when I was in secondary
school. Through this activity, I learnt not only the importance of
listening to others but also how to organise and deliver my opinion
clearly. It also helps me to evaluate the idea critically and be more
cooperative and supportive person. I wanted to have more chances to
debate and discuss current issues in politics. So I decided to take
additional lecture at Oxford University held by the Mayor of Seoul,
Park Won Soon, but it was postponed. I had many questions I wanted
to ask regarding the presidential scandal. Although I could not attend
the lecture, I learnt that I should be more considerate when I make an
agreement, if I break my agreement, some people who will be
disappointed.

I believe that politics is one of the most influential subjects among all
studies because all human beings on this planet are influenced by
politics, not only does it concern the whole country but also the small
family. This is the reason why I found politics so attractive, hence
politics has always been a deep passion in my heart and I found
myself immersed in politics. I have wanted to study politics in the UK
because it is the one that has the oldest and most developed
democratic government in the world. I study media and psychology
which are highly related with politics and essential knowledges to be
a politician. To make my dream come true, I enthusiastically took part
in all the classes and also spent huge amount of time for self-study. As
a result, I made outstanding results especially in both English and
media.

I had participated in the main political events such as seeing a

speech, opening the ballot box and visiting party congress. One of the
most memorable experience is volunteer work for National Election
Commission to encourage people to vote for the election when I was
15 because I learnt that democracy only can be run by peoples
participation. I also literally witnessed how democracy works. On 29th
April 2015, the election was held for the members of the National
Assembly. At that time, I volunteered for National Election
Commission once again, but this time, I was monitoring people who
count ballots. I believe that it was meaningful volunteer work because
transparency is important in the election. After I had become 19, I had
gotten a right to vote, and the legislative election was held. Although
it is complicated to vote in a foreign country, I voted for my country
with responsibility. I also participated in the Model UN meetings. By
attending the meetings, I observed and witnessed international
relationship which is a key term in politics because there were so
many international students who have different backgrounds. What is
more, sharing idea and communicate with them allows me to broaden
perspective.
